Carolina Panthers receiver Tetairoa McMillan has issued an apology for using the N-word on a livestream earlier this week.

“Yesterday, while on live stream, I used a term I should not have,” McMillan shared on his Instagram story on Thursday. “There’s no excuse for what I said — I sincerely apologize for speaking thoughtlessly and will do better.”

Welcome to the big leagues in which everything you say or do matters,  no matter how innocent or stupid

Not as egregious as Kerry Collin’s but he should’ve known better.  He will learn

the world still turns

I think he got caught up in the moment, but I'm a  white dude, so I really can't comment either way. Just reporting on something one of the faces of this franchise said.

He needs to be more careful in the future if he really isn't.

It's not caught up in the moment it's a regular usage word with the way he said it. He just needs to know when he can be himself and when to be PC

Are we serious right now lol I'm black, and anybody that has played football know we all homies in that lockeroom and weightroom. You can tell by the way he said it (with the "a" at the end) that that's just regular football talk among his teammates that he forget to filter out before going on stream. Besides, Tet lightskin anyway (light brown for anybody wondering), nobody trippin over lightskins saying it regardless lol

You can hear how comfortable he is saying it and how easy it rolls off his tongue, and that's because I guarantee you he (and his many african american teammates) have likely used the word with each other frequently and for quite some time.  In short, he's almost certainly been given a pass.

    • I think you mean relevant but they have been fine, the problem is the lack of in game adjustments.  He has also been just decent at recruiting.  Duke having tons of success hurts and just fine isn’t good enough at UNC.
    • I don't see it as drafting a premium player to sit and wait if Walker gets hurt. We need a legitimate swing T. Unless you have a Sewell or Slater type tackle that is pretty much a sure thing, these guys can need some time to develop year 1 just like a QB ideally should. They all haven't played the elite 5 star talent on the edge. If we think another franchise tackle has dropped to us at 19, you have to pull the trigger. The position is just too damn hard to find. If it's just a "we need a tackle and this guy has a T on the board", yeah, move on, take one in the later rounds. But if that guy is there, let him back up and learn a year, then slide him into LT on year 2 of his rookie deal.  I don't see us being able to offer Walker a multi year contract after a prove it year, pay Moton his final almost fully guaranteed year, Hunt, Lewis a center and do a 50-60m extension for Bryce. The 3 most important positions on the field are QB, blindside tackle (usually LT), and edge rusher. Those are the premium positions that cost the most and are hardest to come by. If a starting caliber talent is there at 19 you have to pull the trigger.  I understand the need for a DT and S. I've been on the C and FS train for years. If we weren't staring at a potential Bryce extension, it'd make the decision a lot easier I think. It's just with all these huge contracts I don't see how we can hedge our bets on being able or even wanting to re-sign Walker, especially if he has a bad year. Icky and BC's injuries really hurt our long term plans.  If no blue chip talent at those 3 key positions are available at 19, by all means pass and draft another position. But I think it's pretty safe to say we don't have a guaranteed lock at any of them right now beyond Phillips, and they have to be somewhat of a priority.
    • Not completely accurate. I'm sure Roy is lobbying for him and Larry Brown has spoke put in support too. But Hansbrough has made comments pretty critical and hinting at a need for change. Joel Berry has gone a step further and said the standard has not been met. Scott Williams who was a teammate of Hubert's at Carolina has gone all the way and said it's time for a change at head coach.
