Cleveland traded for Watson long after the incident. His issues have been bad play and injury since then. Why would that relieve Cleveland of financial obligations?

That poo happened when he was a Texan. There was a full year a public drama and legal proceedings in the media and then Cleveland traded for him knowing all of of It.

Okay thanks cool. Reading your post it’s coming back to me, but I should refresh my familiarity before I start ranting at why would we have been chasing a guy with that on his record and facing a suspension…

The stuff about how it would or would not affect his contract can go for any team… in this case the Texans. It is more a wondering at why people that break basically what would be called a morals clause are not impacted contractually.

I suspect Rodgers is gonna run it back one more time with McCarthy in Pittsburgh but we'll see.

Now I could actually see him being a pretty good QB for one last season in Minnesota, tons of offensive weapons there including the best WR in the NFL....  Letting go of Darnold and Daniel Jones in favor of that bum was some real egg on their faces, if he gets a chance to start they will have also let go of Howell that year as well.

I would hope we do.

What’s that saying? Wish in one hand and spit in another, see which one fills up faster?
I bet there are a lot of us that wish we would seriously look at that option. And others

But when you get into 50mil contract talk that dims my enthusiasm for that particular one. That would be taking a real expensive shot in the dark.

We really should look into him heavily and see if he's worth taking a chance on.

But it's the Panthers. They're dumb, so they won't. Stuck with the midget for another season.

For me the time to take the chance was where the Packers got him (yet it doesn’t seem like they took advantage). Or where the Titans did (3rd round). Anyway Green Bay gave Tennessee a 7th rounder for him.

Everyone is on him now. The ticket price has gone way up to where he is like betting on the prohibitive favorite. He would have to ‘win’ or you are screwed.

I can't see the team going out of their way for a QB next season, think that was their whole reasoning behind picking up Bryce's fifth year.

Exactly.  It make no sense to pick up the fifth year AND spend 50M on what? At best, a qb competition where each competitor is making 25M+ or at worst a 25M+ backup. The team that overspends for him will be expecting him to start.

    • Dude, you're like a playlist with only one band on it.
    • Ironically, they're the same posters who spent years crying about Sam Darnold being the worst QB in the league, and then magically carrying water for him and claiming he led his team to the Super Bowl when it conveniently fits their narrative du jour.
    • I'm sure they are cheering him on and pumping sunshine. Tepper has been heavily influenced by his public image in regards to his decision making. He won't let Bryce get benched when he's a media darling. And I'm also sure every other team other than Atlanta would love for us to keep starting Bryce. 3 years of bottom of the league performance. We'd be happy as hell if we got to play Bryce every week on the Panthers with DC calling plays. This offense is a joke.  I want to see Bryce do well but Im also a realist. He seems like a genuinely nice guy and overall good dude. His performance the 1st 2 years warranted a real QB competition this season, not Dalton and Plummer. Develop Bryce and whoever else too. Just be real about the situation. Bryce's development is not where it should be. He refuses to address his mechanics. He's been benched. He has yet to have 2 games back to back of franchise QB level play. There is nothing wrong with saying Bryce may still develop, but we need to start putting pieces in place if he doesn't so our season isn't lost on the arm of Andy Dalton.
