"He racked up five picks, including that pick-six of Patrick Mahomes that fueled a famous Jags victory. The effort concerns disappeared," Barnwell wrote. "Lloyd managed 1.5 sacks and 10 knockdowns as a blitzer. He wasn't a great run defender, as Lloyd took longer to make tackles on run plays (5.1 seconds) than any regular off-ball linebacker in the league and made both run tackles and stuffs at below-average rates. But Lloyd was impactful enough against the pass to earn a deserved trip to the Pro Bowl."

I mean, yeah, he wasn't perfect in run defense.

The Jags still wanted to re-sign him, and they still can't afford him. The Devil is always in the details, and even Barnwell isn't exactly slamming Lloyd and gives him his praise. Someone has to give the other side of the equation.

Let's not forget the high grades .

"'Lloyd earned PFF grades above 80.0 in coverage, against the run, and as a pass-rusher," wrote McGuinness.'

As mentioned, Lloyd did a bit of everything for the Jacksonville defense. He totaled 25 pressures as a blitzer and ranked 11th among linebackers in run defense grade"

Nobody is asking for perfect. But 20 million a season for an ILB who was the slowest run tackler amongst all ILB's is not exactly a slam dunk either.

For me the issue is overpaying FA's to bandaid key units. It's not a sustainable path. The only way this franchise is going to emerge as a consistent contender again is nailing the draft.

Anyone here on the huddle or across social media can sign the best FA's.

I wonder if any other fan base obsesses over backup QB like this one. That said, I struggle to see the point in basically anybody signing Kenny Pickett. He’s not a capable backup, he’s not going to develop, and he’s not a veteran mentor. In all honesty what is the point.

The effort concerns disappeared... in a contract year. Oh we mayne, if that ain't a massive red flag.

Are you new to football fandom? Every fanbase whose starter sucks obsesses over the backup QB. That's where you're looking for hope.

Confused Season 2 GIF by Paramount+

Odd we bring in competition for the backup, instead of an open competition considering outside of the Carolina ecosystem, most people would hardly call Bryce a franchise QB.  You don't bring in competition for a franchise QBs. You do bring in competition for QBs that are not tier 1 guys.  We have seem this play out before in 2003 and, by golly, the competition didn't even have to wait a full game to take over.

I don't think I've ever seen a player be so coddled and catered to by a team in the NFL while pretty clearly holding the team back. We just can't get over that massive sunk cost of that trade.

    • Two things: 1. Dr. Eric Eager is central to the draft process 2. I know that it was edited, but we didn't hear "Thieneman" one time, not even before the Vikings pick.
    • Why would he sign here as a guard when surely someone would sign him as a tackle?  Assuming he is healthy
    • Went back to watching the highlights. With a sober mind haha. Here is what I saw.    freddie needs to make 1 of those but the rest aren’t on him.    Slavin was BBBBAAAD again last night. Not sure what is going on with these game one Slavin gafs.    miller was ok but had his worst game in the playoffs so far.    nikishin was no good. His his awful turnover led to the first goal at the end of the first period that just can’t happen. ghost was beat like a drum multiple times last night, including the go-ahead goal at the end jarivs wont shoot. He is either hurt or he is struggling mentally and I think it could be a combination of both. He passed up a wide open net on the power-play only to pass it to no one and cleared it himself.     Svech played well. He is getting zero help on that line.    aho. Worst game as a pro. I mean that. He won’t shoot it, passes go to no one and turns it over repeatedly.  He did exactly what they did against Montreal game one when Miller had a turnover. Aho left his man to go help and left the golden Knight player wide open in front of Freddie.  If I was Rod, you Tell Aho when that thing hits your stick you fire it  someone needs to sit him down just him in a room and ask what’s going on. He seems soft, timid and has zero fire.   canes could have won that game   There isn’t a gap between these two teams  they are dead even   Carter Hart’s gonna get lit up in this series. We can beat that guy. the consensus last night was our defense played horrible and our stars won’t score.  clean the defense up. Tell the top line to shoot it everything and we’ll win tomorrow night.   Possibly convincingly.
