It's not gonna be mark few. They want a younger coach. And it definitely won't be Golden. Too much baggage there.

It might be Otzelberger, Nate Oats, or Grant McCasland.

It definitely won't be a former Tar Heel.

ESPN is throwing out Billy Donovan and Brad Stevens as well lol.

I think it would be a laugh riot if they hired Bobby Hurley.

Feels like the Ron Rivera siriation all over again. Nothing against the man, lived him as a player and seems like a good dude and we did have some good experiences under him. It was just abundantly clear that a change needed to be made. Joel Berry summed it up perfectly - "the standard has not been met". That's just all there is to say.

Carolina Way is gone, it went out the window with the Belichick hiring. They'll hire the best coach they can, ignoring everything else if possible. 

 

Athletic reports that the school's top two targets are Tommy Lloyd and Billy Donovan. They don't care the buyout for a coach either, they and the boosters are willing to spend and will be going outside of the coaching family tree 100%.

Oh 100% outside hire....but it won't be Golden.

Here's Carolinas actual wishlist for a new coach in no particular order:

May

Lloyd

Otzelberger

Byington 

Stevens

Mccasland

McCollum

And then the outliers:

Donovan

Malone

Oats

Few

 

My guess is it's somebody from the top and then if they get a bunch of no's then and only then Donovan has a real chance.

Why would any of the top tier guys already having success at major universities want to jump ship unless it's just a money grab? It's going to be real funny if you end up with someone worse than Davis.

That would be an absolute shock. I can't see it from either angle. Stste already has a massive little brother complex with UNC, hiring UNC's cast-off would just be bizarre.
