Shawn Zobel Says He Knows Carolina's Top 3 Prospects

You guys wouldn't take the risk and have to pick that sixth player, whoever it may be while also securing a second rounder? I would rather have Gabbert and a second rounder than Newton with the first, seems like a great trade. Gabbert is as big of a ? as Newton is there really isn't a difference, the experts are pretty much split. But maybe Green will fall, maybe Fairley or Darreus. I would much rather have that much needed high second round value pick, a round Hurney does well at as well as one of these questionable players. Everyone wanted to trade at first and had the right idea, this was before the hype, now everyone gets hyped up and you'd rather have him that trade down and now just say trading down won't be a possibility but it will.

No it's not, Fairley is the obvious answer.

Yeah it could be but just taking everything in consideration.I dont know if Carolina really wants to stick there neck out for fairley at that pick. The reason why because people are going to question the move and we trade out and dont get an impact player and we draft fairley and he dont workout. Its going to hurt our team. I see Miller or JJ Watt been more of a hit then fairley would. Thats just my opinion at the draft spot.

Who the fug is Shawn Zobel?

He's the guy who runs the "Draft Headquarters" website. You know, the one who wrote that he was sure the Panthers would be taking Newton and attributed the info to "sources close to Draft Headquarters".

What makes me question this isn't so much the Newton pick (there's plenty of that speculation going around) but the fact that he puts Nick Fairley in the top three when all the scutlebutt has been that the Panthers don't seem all that interested in Fairley.

My honest read would be that he's trying to make his rep and/or sell his services by guessing right on the top pick and acting like he had inside info. He may turn out to be right, but I'm not buying that he's actually got any inside track.

I tend to agree with you. Plus if we don't take Cam he can just make some story up to say he was right but something changed. But if he guesses right he will use it for cred.

Ok, this was a joke, right? You know, the bolded part.

Not discounting your reasoning for trading down, it has some merit.

But Hurney routinely loses his mojo in the 2nd round.

My source: an intern in the LSU athletic department who know's current athletic director Joe Alleva's secretary who knows reggie love whose former agent was college roomates with the public relations director of the firm that represented steve buerlein, who happens to be second cousins with a guy who lived accross the street from drew rosenhaus, who said that he has sources that tell him that cam newton would get a 21 on his wonderlic, TWO days before he took the test....

Panthers will draft Newton No. 1 overall..per my sources..
