Yasinskas Speculation: "Real Chance" Smith is Traded

Perspective. Whether people in Charlotte believe he is Superman or not, he's still one of the top five WRs in the league. Even if the Panthers got a 3rd round pick for him, they would be completely stupid to let Smith leave, when he still has years left on his contract and he can be a top five WR when he has a QB to throw the ball.

No he isn't. Even w/ a good QB he flat out has lost a gear or two.....and that is huge given his style of play. All things being equal.....there are just younger and better WRs now in the league.

He is a 32 yr old (will be)who has been in the league for 10 yrs.......that ain't prime time.

I wouldn't bet on higher than a fourth rounder at this point, and even that might be generous.

Fans see Smitty, a man among boys, capable of leaping tall buildings with a single bound.

Outside of Charlotte, people see a guy on the wrong side of thirty who can be kind of a brat to deal with, whose numbers have been in decline of late and who's coming off two major injuries in two years.

Maybe someone would make a better offer than that, but I have a hard time seeing it without the homer glasses :(

I agree with you. But I don't see our FO giving him up for that low a pick.

Unless he pulls a Palmer then we might dump him for any value.

Yes, lets cut the best player in franchise history who's still under contract with trade value at a postition with no depth and less experience without any return or compensation just out of pure spite.

The logic is overwhelming.

Who said cut? That would just be silly.

you're reaching Husky, and being an asshole just for the sake of being one.

Fug you

I have a hard time with the Chargers for need reasons, but given that one of their reserves just got arrested a short time ago, I suppose it's possible.

Pats come up every time a vet's potentially being traded, but they already have a younger version of Smith (Wes Welker).

Naanee's been released. As it stands I think we're just fine at receiver. We have VJ, Crayton, and Ajirotutu under contract. I presume Floyd's still in the long range plans. We may go Banks, Goodman, or draftee at the 5th slot. I wouldn't mind them bringing back Kelley Washington either - since he was making catches when called upon.

Trading Smith for anything other than a first rounder is not worth, (and they wont get that for him anyway), because they wont get anybody in later rounds who will be as productive as he can be. I still think Smitty has plenty of football in him and will be one of those guys who will produce for awhile. Maybe not at the level of his peak but better than most.

I want Smith to retire here like everyone else. But if he goes he will always be a Panther and I'm sure in his heart he will always be a Panther. I can't say I blame him for wanting to take his talents to another team before it's too late for him showcase it.

If he does go I hope it is to NE, Indy or GB where he will get to show the NFL just how good he can be. Smith can still be the best at least one more time. He's never had the luxuries these other "top 10" guys do.

    • Don't have to be miss cleo. His weakness are length, athleticism, creating his own shot, defense, finishing at the rim,  Strengths - shooting and IQ.   Likely won't work as non athletic shooters don't typically work.

    • I live in Indiana and took a trip that weekend to watch my two friend's teams play (Chiefs and Vikings) IN Minnesota when they were playing at a college field, I think TCF? Anyways, our plan was to watch the game (noon game) then do some shopping at the Mall of America, I wasn't planning on watching the Panthers play Seattle since I was out sight seeing and walking around after the noon game had ended. By the time we were walking back into the Mall the Panthers were down by 2 scores in the 4th or going into the 4th and we were all thirsty from walking around for 2.5 hours after the Vikings game so we decided to postpone shopping until after we ate. We found this nice little sports bar inside the mall that had the game on. Man, I'm so glad we skipped shopping because that was probably the most excited I've been in some time for a win. Beating Seattle in 2015 felt like the "monkey off the back" sort of feeling and I knew we had finally arrived as a team. The entire bar erupted when Cam hit Olsen for that walk off TD. Literally one of the greatest moments of my life. My friend wasn't so happy though lol, by the time the Panthers game ended ALL of the stores inside the mall had closed and he wasn't able to get any souvenirs. It was his first time watching a Vikings game live and making a trip like that so he was legit upset lol. I on the other hand couldn't have been happier.
