Dan Pompeii (National Football Post, Chicago Tribune) reported that Delhomme was telling the Browns he wouldn't come back unless he was guaranteed the starting job.

The Akron Beacon Journal has reported that browns GM Tom Heckert is saying the story was completely false.

I'm inclined to believe Heckert. That doesn't sound like Delhomme at all.

Browns GM Tom Heckert is refuting a National Football Post report that Jake Delhomme informed the team he has no intention of being a backup in 2011.

We had a tough time buying the original report, so this is no surprise. Delhomme is due $5.4 million in base salary, and he's clearly no longer starter caliber. The Browns hold every last bit of the leverage here
