Colin Cowherd destroying CAR franchise on ESPN radio this AM

Hates Cam at CAR. "Will totally implode at Carolina". We'll lose be 0-7 might not win any games. Blah blah.

Yes it's Colin Cowherd but that seems to be the feeling I get when listening to many pundents around the league - CAR is a small market franchise that has nothing to surround a QB and will throw a poor guy to the wolves and everything implodes. No one has ANY confidence we can develope a QB properly. We're going up against 3 potential Pro Bowl QBs in our division 2x every year. They'll pick us apart etc.

Part of this is b/c most around the league DON'T have respect for us or for alot of small market franchises in general that are fairly new. Part of this might be b/c the scenario I described above sounds familiar though (Clausen last year anyone??)

I believe the way to go is to somehow get some veteran (ANY veteran) that has some experience and let him start. If nothing else throw Clausen back out there so at least he can get another shot and KEEP CAM ON THE BENCH! For those that think we should start CAM immediately you are absolutely out of your mind. Unless you just want to ruin yet another QB you have to let him sit, mature and learn!

I believe I see his point on Cam getting destroyed here.

Cam flat out needs to sit for several seasons to learn to play QB at this level. On a team like Carolina he will not have that luxury.

Cam would be MUCH better off going somehwere and sit behind a seasoned vet.

Finally a thoughtful response...

Agreed. Buffalo would have been a good fit b/c they have Fitz he can sit behind.

Again he must sit for at least a good part of this season and learn. If not - oh man....

Cowherd's logic is flawed.....like always.

Yesterday he said he would put his paycheck on Newton being a bust for the following reasons.

Drafted by a team with a new coach

Drafted by a team with a defensive head coach

Drafted by a team w/ a weak WR corp

Drafted by a team in a tough division

That was it.

Well, if that is his sure fire way to tell you a QB will be a bust.....then his logic means he would have thought....

Matt Ryan, Mark Sanchez, Josh Freeman, etc. (ALL 4 points appled to them when drafted) would have all been busts....and those were guys he praised as recent success.

    • This is huge may not be a trap game but this plays a major part in what they want to do. If we can get some pressure on Sam we know what he does with pressure coming hit and heavy. Also we may be able to take the top off their defense a backup safety trying to stop TMac or Cooker over the top or forcing him to play the backend should allow us to run the ball somewhat effectively. Either they allow some runs or we take some shots and if Bryce and whoever can connect deep we’ll be in business for another big time win against a top notch opponent. Might not be a trap game but health travel game plans all play a major role in each weeks game plan and this week might be leaving our way. We’re missing some replaceable pieces they’re missing key anchors to the offense and defense major difference time to solidly ourselves at one of the top teams in the nfc tomorrow fellas buckle up.
    • Yes.  If I am not mistaken, we need to sign Coker to the ERFA tender and insist that XL spends his spring and summer at a WR camp and not Coon huntin on his four wheeler.  XL was raw when we picked him--which is why I wanted to go another direction--and we are seeing how raw.  He is basically learning a position.     The Panthers will make their move in 2026 to be an NFL powerhouse behind Bryce.  Bryce needs intelligent WRs who catch the ball.  That said, we need a solid #2 to challenge XL and make cutting him easy, if necessary.  A #2 WR (intented to be a #1 by now) with under 400 yards is embarrassing.   On offense, you have to ask, "Where can we get better?"  In my view, #2 WR, TE (although they are improving) and maybe C (again, if we re-sign Mays, he is trending up and at 26, entering his prime--I say stay with him and find competition later in the draft (not good for C).  OL depth maybe?  In other words, XL is a glaring weak spot.
