That's what folks are refusing to see and admit....along with his immense potential Newton is gonna fill the stadium and bring so much exposure to our team from the national media. Granted, that attention is going to be negative by a lot of folks, since we've apparently turned into the perennial turd in the rose garden. We get treated like we are a bottom 5 team every season. I know Fox ruined us, but we have a fresh staff.

On a somewhat related note.....

Do you think if we pick Newton there's a chance we could land the spot on Hard Knocks? New coaches, and a player that has the attention of the whole country whether you love him or hate him people will watch. Random thought.

Ask the Oakland Raiders fans how that great big Nike endoresment deal that JaMarcus Russell signed when he was drafted is helping them now.

Is it too much to ask that we hold off on the Russell comparisons for one day? Just one day??

Cam Newton is light years ahead of Russell on many levels... the most of which is work ethic.

    • I don't think working from memory is going to be very productive or useful. You would need to compare them all, which is far easier to do from the breakdowns of each game. That has tiered charts that give real data.  But, even then that wouldn't substitute for a trained eye(s) doing detailed film analysis to attempt to determine if we are modifying the offense dramatically for Bryce.
    • I think front office and general team culture under new ownership is sort of on the right track. The rookies all look incredible compared to where you'd expect each one of them to be right now. Lee's in game coaching is awful, he might be ok as a culture and developmental guy but that can't outweigh the in-game miscues and bad game plans. If LaMelo can't figure out the ankles then I think you gotta trade him for a haul, can't keep having your seasons lost every year because he can't stay on the court. And I say that as a big fan of him. Miller I think is unlucky, he looks likely to be an elite core player for us, but if he can't put together a stretch of healthy seasons he would trend towards LaMelo and need to be moved. I used to like Miles on the court a lot more but nowadays he's just an empty stat guy who needs to go. The short lived hot start to the season was fun but unless LaMelo and Miller both get and stay healthy within the next few weeks I can't even see us being a play-in team this year. And even if they do get healthy, we're probably looking at play-in at best, maybe barely compete for that fringe 6th seed.
