Raquetball....

Played some with my pop this week. Really enjoyed it and got a great workout. Beats the hell out of the treadmill. Anyone play? Been looking for courts in the area. Seems like the Dowd and Lowes YMCAs are the only courts around?

I played both Raquetball and Squash in college, and I can tell you, I enjoyed squash much more, so I recommend giving it a shot.

The ball is smaller, and bounces about as much as a dead tennis ball, so the game is much faster and more intense than raquetball. You can't wait for that superball to come bouncing over to you like you can in raquetball; you have to go get it. You'll really get a workout.

Try searching your local area on google/yahoo pages. Sometimes you can find courts in strange places. Gyms, clubs, community colleges, apartments/spa resorts/community centers are your best bets.

Raquetball sure is fun, but I personally prefer squash. Slower ball, more technique, better games. Sometimes, racquetball is too much pure power and can become a game of "who can hit it harder?"

Also, watch those walls. They sneak up fast and can really lay one on you. I once made a crazy cross-court save only to dislocate my shoulder when my momentum carried my into the wall.

    • I was playing around with the ESPN playoff predictor and it shows if 49ers and Rams finish with same record, the Rams hold the tiebreaker.
    • This is my thinking as well. Seattle played as good as they could on defense and Panthers still had a chance until those back to back turnovers.  I don't think the Rams played particularly well in their game against us, alot things went our way in order to win.  Someone pointed out the Rams were bad on the east coast road games and Seattle has been the better road team but they just fought a hard contested game against the Panthers, and now they travel to San Fran this week for their biggest game of the season to determine the division and if they are the overall #1 seed in the NFC or will be traveling for the Wildcard weekend.  If they lose they then travel back cross the country to play a team they've just beaten two weeks ago, not saying they won't be favored against the Panthers but the energy of hosting our first playoff game in 10 years along with the get back effect of having just lost to this team could be huge.
    • I don’t know about shadowing and all that, but according to this, whatever we are doing is working
