First time I ever used a coupon at a restaurant

So I took my wife to dinner tonight up at Mortons off of W. Trade in the beautiful uptown of Charlotte. I went on their website today to confirm resrevation times and I saw this Mortons Three Course Dinner Special. For $109 you get two salads, two fillet's, choice of a seafood (I had the crab cake and wife had the shrimp alexander), two veggies, and desert. I never use coupons or take advantage of these specials because, to be honest, I find it a little embarrassing. Flame me if you want, but I'm not a coupon guy. Well, I popped my cherry tonight and used the coupon and to be honest, it wasn't as bad as I thought. Nobody laughed but I was extra careful on how I presented the coupon.

So do you guys break out the coupons at dinner very often?

By the way, I had the Sierra Nevada "Torpedo" IPA and it is delish at 7.2% alchohol. Also, I believe Charles Godfrey was at the table next to me but I don't jock sniff DBs so I can't confirm.

I rarely if ever use them, I know how it felt back in the day to know that you weren't going to get a good tip for the amount of work provided.

If you use coupons from restaurant.com, a 25% gratuity (of the nondiscounted total) is automatically added.

I'm not about screwing over a server. But I am about getting a $80 tab down to as little as possible.

But my wife is me to the 425345234th power. She'll go shopping and get 8 pairs of shoes, 4 purses, 5 formal dresses, some jackets, make-up and groceries for a month and only spend about $12. She is the epitome of bargain shopping.

Of course use them. They send them out to drum up business. They know a coupon will entice a customer to come to their establishment when given a choice. Just tip as if you never had the coupon.

    • Option A:  Pay your starting QB starting QB money. Option B:  Look for a starting QB for 4-10 years (or longer) while wasting the talent at every other position.    How many of the top 20 QB's do you think are worth what they are being paid?   When you factor in the last year of his present deal his contract is really an average of 45 million per year which in today's QB market is a very, very good deal. I wish we'd had found a Brock Purdy to pay 50+ million a year right after we parted ways with Cam.  Ya'll go ahead and live in fairy tale land where good to great (much less elite) QB's are available to pay. Just the fact that they had the chance to pay Brock after the disaster of trading up for Lance is a testament that when you find a quarter back you can win with, complete in the playoffs and superbowls with, you pay him.
    • They will still be a playoff team but they aren't contenders anymore IMO. They won't be able to spend like they have when they went to a SB and proved he couldn't carry a win at that level with a really good team around him. Now he is going to have to do it with less to spend around him. They just locked in to being a playoff bound team that's going to be a known speed bump for whoever will represent the NFC in the SB.
    • Hmm. I think he'll live up to it. Last year, about half of his team was on IR it seems, at one time or another. Year before, Super Bowl appearance. Year before that, playoff run after being third on the depth chart and being pressed into service. Is he one of the greatest in the game right now? Nope. No chance of that. Is he in the top 10 going into next season? Pretty good chance of that.  Would 20 or more teams in this league love to have the guy as their starting QB. Most likely so. He's a good QB who can implement his coach's game plan to a T and has both the confidence of and confidence in his teammates. That'll take you a long way in this league if you've got the right cast around you, and he does.
