Jon Beason statistically a lock for the Hall of Fame.

When I said that "a couple of rings would help his cause", it was my way of saying that notoriety is needed so that his accomplishments can be recognized. He doens't HAVE to win a couple of rings but the team that he's playing on has to have a measure of success to assure himself a place in Canton.

Food for Thought:

Great Linebackers NOT in the Hall of Fame

Greg Lloyd

Chuck Howley

Lee Roy Jordan

Karl Mecklenburg

Sam Mills

Pat Swilling (Jesus the Saints were pumping out some linebackers in the 90's)

Joe Fortunato

Cornelius Bennett

Tom Jackson

Tommy Nobis

I know you'll have to google some of these guys, but it's amazing some of them aren't in there.

P.S. There's many more than that.

Karl Mecklenburg was a beast.. Im surprised he is not in...

-Tackling Machine

-Change positions and still play extremely well

-Can shed blocks and still make tackles

-Can cover receivers and has the instincts/ball skills and hands to make the interception.

-Can pressure QB if called upon

-Always knows where the ball is and can get there quickly and make the play, high IQ

-Extremely good leader.

- Very good speed for a LB

-Can play well without having exceptional D-Line help

-Impressive stats since rookie year- Over 100 tackles each season, int, sacks, ff. etc. Pro bowls and still has a significant amount of years left to play compared to other top LBs.

-Definitely a top 15 maybe 10 pick if that draft was done over.

- Makes people around him step there game up and play better(Davis-breakout year before he got hurt, Anderson- very good improvement last year.

-Improves as a football player each year.

-No definite flaws that standout.

-Does all these things while kinda being undersized for a MLB in the first place.

When i look at all this.........I think he's hall of fame worthy. With or without rings

I mean I love Jon Beason, but Patrick Willis is going to end up with better numbers. Both aren't going to make it unless Beason has a few truly dominating seasons that would stand out in voters (media) mind. Superbowls would be the only thing that could possibly push him over the top.

If J.B. gets abducted by aliens he's a guaranteed lock. He automatically would skip Ray Lewis and Patrick Willis by 5000 spots as the best active MLB in the league just because he was the chosen one to be taken off into the vast expanses of space by superior beings. Clearly they'd see that he is a superior human specimen.

I just hope that once he gets to nebula 9 or where ever they take him he does go h.a.m. and catch another charge for beating someone's ass. I hear the interstellar police don't play that poo and their guns are never set for stun.

    • overall agree on the draft grade as a whole on on each pick, but every time I read (and I have read it more than once) that we "gave up two firsts" for Bryce, I am confused. We gave up the 2024 first, but we swapped 2023 firsts, so we didn't give up anything there. We did give up our former first rounder in DJ, but I don't think thats what you mean as one of the "firsts" we gave up.
    • Didn't  see this posted (since 2023) but since folks have been posting that you can't judge a draft class for three years (a ridiculous take), I thought I'd post this to see what people thought about the 2023 draft. Unfortunately this may not be the most interesting class to do this with but I do quite like retrospective draft grades. Would appreciate other's takes on this (and other recent) draft classes.   1(1) - Bryce Young QB: I am a bigger Bryce Young apologist than most (maybe all). I like the kid. But there is no way around it: This was a terrible pick. If he had been picked in the 4th or even the 3rd round I would feel pretty good about it. But this was the first overall pick that we gave up two firsts, our best offensive player to get.  GRADE: C -    2(39) - Jonathan Mingo WR: not much to say here here. He was here for two years. His yards per catch are on par with Bryce's yards per pass. Rough stuff. To date he has still never scored a touchdown in the NFL GRADE: F   3(80) - DJ Johnson OLB: a pick I hated as soon as it happened and an example of why the premise of this thread is honestly dumb. This was a bad pick when it happened. Most people knew it.  Then came training camp and he did not look good. Then came the preseason which confirmed what we saw in TC. Then came the season which confirmed what we saw in preseason. To date, he has half a sack in his career. GRADE: F 4 (114) Chandlers Zavala G: Honestly the best pick of this draft which really speaks to how awful this draft is. Other than Bryce, the only pick still on the team. He is mostly average or below average depth which in round 4 is not terrible. But he had a pff score of 43.5 and though I think people have unrealistic expectations for draft picks, I still would want a little more from a fourth round pick GRADE: C+   5 (145) - Jammie Robinson S: I liked the pick when it happened but ended up being a disappointment. He logged 1 tackle with the falcons last year and not enough snaps to get a grade on PFF.  GRADE: F OVERALL DRAFT GRADE: F
