A little David Gettis love

with the void opposite Charles Johnson I think Hardy might be a better pick than Gettis.

Gettis seems more a one trick pony thus far....I think LaFell looks more well rounded if he didn't have garbage hands.

i saw that. pretty nice.

still have this memory of keary colbert's rookie stats of 47 catches, 754 yards, and 5 TDs and it makes me a bit more cautious.

Cause there is a long history of receivers starting well, and then regressing..

No, no there isn't.

History says is typically takes 3 years for a receiver to come into their own.

While I don't expect big leaps in improvement, I do expect continued improvement. I also expect more out of gettis than the other receivers not named steve smith.

Colbert put up those numbers in Delhomme's best statistical year in 2004 when the Panthers had NICK GOINGS starting at RB. Panthers were airing it out that year. Gettis put up those numbers with Matt Moore, Jimmy Clausen, and that St. Pierre guy throwing him the ball.

I'm much more hopeful about Gettis. He has the physical tools to be a good one. Hopefully LaFell develops into a solid #2 guy and theres a pretty good tandem at WR.

lol remember when Fiz made that thread telling the panthers to f off for keeping gettis and not signing housh......good times good times

I remember when Squirrel all but guaranteed that Gettis would be cut after camp. We even had a bet and that tree rat still owes me his nuts.

Gettis and Lafell did "ok" last season, given how badly Clausen played, and how disorganized the offense was.

It is, however, still too early to tell if they are on their way to becoming legitimate threats. One of them has to step up though, and if I were to make a guess, I would say Gettis could be a the number one when Smitty leaves.

Lafell shows promise, and I like the idea of him being number 2. Pilares could be a shocker, you never know. Smitty was drafted in the 6th round, but he didn't have to come back from an injury.

And of course, AE. Sadly, I think he is a lost cause. I really want him to be able to have success, because he is very fast and can shed tackles and is very elusive. But I don't know if he can become a legit WR.

Gettis should get love though, and I hope he has a breakout season.
