Tom Sorensen on WFNZ: New CBA could be reached by Friday

I think this commenter is right:

I hope it's the second one. That would Sorenson's comment make sense. It would also explain why the players met with the lawyers the other day. Maybe to show them what they're thinking of signing, etc.

But, at this point, I'm so pessimistic, that I'm convinced everything is just going to delay the lock-out even further.

DAMNIT! I NEED FOOTBALL!

from that article you linked:

But the location of the talks and those present could possibly indicate the two sides are working on settling the antitrust case between the league and the players.
sooo...not sure why you think it isn't going to happen based on that.

sounds pretty favorable to me....esp. since both goodell and smith are trying to get a deal done and smith has his lawyers on a short leash which he yanked last week.

oh...and a thousand curses fall on your head for linking PFT and making me quote them.

It's not happening as in the Players and Owners are not meeting everyday this week. Like the article and Sorenson said.

oh. deal could still very well be done, though. lack of owners and players present isn't that much of a factor.

LOL. Some of the criticism toward Tom in this thread sounds eerily similar to the criticism he received when he wrote that the Panthers were likely to take Cam.

For the record Tom is a good dude and even though i don't always agree with his opinion pieces I think he is a good writer and a good guy.

Women's World Cup is more exciting than MLB....

Definitely better looking but more exciting. I just watched Cliff Lee record his third straight shutoutagainst a loaded Red Sox team. As a lifelong Phillies fan baseball is exciting for me. I would rather watch football for sure but baseball has its merits. You can watch a few innings, go do something else and still come back and watch. Not tonight though. It was a masterful pitching exhibit. One for the ages.

Cliff Lee is in the zone.

According to the NFLN, Goodell and D Smith headed to the rookie symposium at IMG together last night to address the rookies together.

If the negotiations were stalled or turning ugly to the point that they called the lawyers back in to duke it out, then I don't think we'd be seeing Goodell and D Smith doing this.

My guess is that they've already agreed to a framework and the lawyers are hashing out the details.
