What about Pike?

We have a thread on how great Moore is, and on how crappy Clausen is, so I think that the current Huddle standards are being met. But what about Pike? Think he makes it on to the final roster? You can assume Clausen will, he's under contract and Hurney believes in him. And of course, Newton takes a spot. That leaves one roster spot, unless we carry four QBs.

So, do we sign a vet and cut Pike? Or do we carry four QBs? What do you think?

Tony Pike--ex Cincy QB who this Fantasy Football expert predicted would be an all-pro someday. You know, the tall skinny kid?

I wondered what happened to him. I mean, we should have seen more of him given our QB situation last year.

pretty sure he blew away in the wind.

but seriously, about the only thing he has on clausen right now is the fact he's largely unknown. He'll get his chance in training camp, just like Clausen, but he's gonna have to show WAY more to keep his spot.

personally, I dont think our backup qb is on the team. Cam Newton will be the starter, he will be a scrambling qb and will have a playbook designed for his scrambling skills. It only makes sense to have a backup capable of those plays as to not throw off the entire offense. Who that will be, I dunno. There is a remote possibility that armani is groomed to be cams backup since he has similar skills.

Who knows anything about any of our QB's after last year. FoxyscrewJRball was a disaster. If Pike had potential it was not going to be uncovered or developed last year.

Okay let's just stop it there, he pretty much has no potential.

    • Man, we're desperate around here.  I had to look at Peppers' stats to see if I'm missing something, but no, he's an average guy at best.  Nothing impressive at all in his stats.  He's not a true safety at all, and I'm kind of annoyed with the jack of all trades players at this point.  Of course I see the PFF scores and everything, but I'm old school.  I believe the stats tell more about the player than the analytics.  This ain't moneyball here. (haha)  The best players put up numbers.  And when I look at the numbers, Peppers is just another player running around on the field.
    • People see what they want.  I have also stated since the moment we drafted Bryce….a badly owned team was screwing HIM over by setting him up to fail by coach/scheme design.   Core criticism isn’t actually Bryce…it’s Carolina/front office.  I could see Bryce being good.  I could see Canales being good.  But I don’t see them as a pairing.  Football is about fit.  Board is doing what the board does.  People were idiots who dared question the All Star staff.  People raged when Fitterer was criticized.  They raged when Rhule was criticized.   Until they didn’t.
    • Yeah and to make it weirder Moehrig is a FS, Peppers is a SS.
