New Rules

I just read an article by Ron Green that will be in tomorrows papers. He was saying that the new agreement will not let free agent signees practice on the field or in the weight room untill Aug 4th when the new year begins. That is stupid! They also are restricted to one practice per day in pads and only 14 sessions limited to 3 hrs during the training camp.

Forgive me for asking if this has already been mentioned somewhere (I haven't been keeping up as much as I normally do during FA) but do our own FA that we resigned have to wait till the 4th to. Also I would assume Olsen would be exempt to this rule since he was still under contract and just agreed to a new deal with us...

Two a days are a thing of the past and one of the issues the players fought hard for. Funny how many retired players are totally against it. They said players need to push themselves in camp to be ready for the season. They think getting rid of 2 a days is a big mistake.

    • Smitty is a legendary footballer player but this has really damaged his reputation as a person. You don’t cheat on a woman who has been with you through everything and gave you children and especially not with another man’s wife. He doesn’t even have any remorse about it, acting like nothing happened.
    • That's a big ass center! Is there any center in the NFL that weighs 320 lbs? Also, we drafted a center last season. Not sure this guy is a center even if he took reps at the senior bowl. Looks like a guard to me unless his build is better suited to a lesser weight. In a zone scheme centers need to be able to move quickly.
    • The majority of NFL draft picks don't play all too many snaps lined up directly across from another NFL player, and I don't think many people really realize this. Unless you play a game against one of the 2-4 schools that are putting half their lineup into the NFL each season, most teams who have multiple draft picks, MIGHT only have 2-4 draft picks in any given season. Some skill positions get around 30 players drafted each year, other positions are in the teens to low 20's.  With at least a handful of them coming from non power conference schools too.  So the odds for any WR or CB to get too many games lined up directly against another future draft pick is pretty low. The better odds are that they get lined up against a future NFL player, i.e. a junior or senior WR getting lined up against a freshman or sophomore DB who will get drafted in a couple of years. Then if you take it one step further and look for players who actually play in the NFL and make a difference.   You're basically looking at players drafted in the first 3 rounds of the draft, so a little less than 100 players a year, spread out across all the positions and conferences (which in today's massive conferences, teams have even lower odds of player the teams with more NFL players than ever before).
