Reports already saying Asante Samuel available for trade, should we go get?

I can't remember where I saw it last night, may have been Mike Lombardi, but he is saying that Asante is available for the right price... Said the Eagles are looking to "bulk up" or get "bigger," whatever that means.

They are having trouble stopping the run, it's a common theme in Philly.

If they are playing from behind, they have a tough time.

again, samuel isn't much better than options available in FA right now, if he's better at all.

it's not worth giving any draft picks or good depth players like connor to get him when you can get something just as good for just $$ that you would be spending on samuel as well.

I don't think Connor will ever be a starter here, so he makes a good trading option. Yet I too don't want Asante. Let's save Connor's trading value for someone of more value.
if beason ever gets hurt (which very well could happen) we don't want to be without connor.

you can't find a better backup for such a key position. hopefully the team views him as a lot more than decent trade bait.

He is certainly value to us, yet in Connor's mind I'm sure he wants to eventually start. God willing, Beason is going to be the man for many years to come. It's only right that we allow Dan Connor a chance to shine and make money at some point in his career. So if the right trade opportunity came along, I'm sure he wouldn't mind if we send him to a place he will start. Yet as of right now, unless we trade for Leon Hall:cool: , Connor is our guy.

I'm not sure if we should, but having him opposite Gamble may be nice. I like Connor, but he's not going to start here, we just signed all 3 of our starting LB's to 5+ year deals, and he's not going to sit around waiting. Plus, I think MLB is the only thing he could fill in for. While yes it's good having him as a backup, he may not want to do that for a long time, but then again, we don't know him personally, so he may be OK with this.

Samuel's salary this year is pretty high though, but CB is a HUGE HUGE need now, maybe our biggest need, and we may need to bite the bullet. But I think there are other CB's out there that may be cheaper and could perform.

It all depends on the asking price. Picking up a corner that should solidify a side for 2-4 years would be great, even if I would rather have had a younger guy. But if we could nab him for something reasonable, it'd be worth it.

But this is the Eagles. Do we really expect to get him for something reasonable?? I don't, so I don't expect him here.

2011: $5.9 million, 2012: $8.4 million, 2013: $10.4 million, 2014: Free Agent
actually, the number for this year isn't too bad...not sure how the rest of it would fit with the way those years caps are shaping up, though.
