Panthers interested in Bulger and Delhomme...

Recommended Posts

All I am saying is that he didn't try to make an obvious bad situation better. And if he did honestly try his best, it just wasn't good enough.

And, like others have posted, the coaching situation does not affect some areas of his play. But, he was a rookie, so he had an excuse for his poor play.

If Jimmy can get it done, great. But he didn't show any signs of being a leader last season, so he has a lot of things to work on. Plus, Cam has shown the ability to be a leader, and Jimmy is just sitting back being quite.

Ok, I agree with most of that but the way you originally said it sounded off to me. I honestly think last season there wasn't anything he could have done to make it better. He wasn't prepared to play and he just wasn't good enough.

I would prefer Bulger, I would accept Brunnell... Jake's time is done here. I appreciate what he did for us, but I'd rather not see him in a Panther's uni again.

Yeah you just don't bring a guy like that back. I would like brunnell because the guy was a mobile QB. He can maybe help Cam know what to look for as for as when to actually break and run.

I just read that they are interested in Derek Anderson. Some of you laughed at me for wanting this guy, but if the panthers are interested, I don't see why not. He had a productive year with coach Chudz. After Chudz left, his career went down hill.
because derek anderson is a putz.

don't care how good of a year he had with chud. jake delhomme had one really god year as well. didn't mean jack the rest of the time.

he brings nothing of substance to the table. he just brings a bad and whiny attitude that can't handle criticism and complains when the going gets tough.

not a guy you want to have on your team, back up or otherwise.

If we're looking for some one to possibly start Week 1 then I'm all in for Bulger. With the talent around him I could legitimately see us sneak in via a Wild Card (ala the Steelers with Tommy Maddox) if he plays above average and if not week 5/6 go ahead and hand over the reigns to Cam and let's see what he has.

If we're looking for some one ONLY to come in as a 2nd/3rd QB with an understanding that he is there as a mentor to Cam and Jimmy ONLY then I think Jake would be a good fit. Jake is a professional and I think him having been a qb in Carolina before will help Cam and Jimmy both.

Leave Derek Anderson wherever he's at right now. I'm not sure he is the mentor we'd like Cam to look up to.

ugggh please let's not bring Delomme back unless he retires and then mentors. That would be the ultimate scenario. Some of our players still have ties to him and it would feel like we are moving backwards rather than forwards.

Here's my .02. The Panthers want Bulger but to mentor the young guys, not to be a starter. Bulger wants the change to start somewhere. If the Panthers wanted him as the starter or even wanted to give me a chance to start he'd already be here.

I think they're waiting for reality to set in for him that there's no teams out there that want him for a starter. He realizes that, then we get him.

Jake already knows that but he's their second choice.

I don't think Jake needs to be brought in because of what it might do to the locker room. The last thing that Rivera wants is a divided locker room, he's dealing with enough right now with the fans calling for Cam after every not-so-good pass by Jimmy.

Marc Bulger has no affiliations to the team, but, does he want to be a mentor? Does he want to help Cam Newton learn? I'm not so sure that he does, and that could definitely be the hold up between the two sides.

Seriously, I would prefer us to bring Weinke back so that he could continue working with Cam during games than brining in Jake or Marc.

If you're gonna do that, I'd prefer to make up a new coaching position for Weinke and have Armanti as an emergency QB. You'd only need him if the other 2 go down in the same game as you could always sign somebody during the next week.

Saves a roster spot and really how many times have teams ever been forced to use the 3rd QB due to 2 injuries (as opposed to performance)?
