DEs...no stellar options. makes getting as many picks as possible that much more important

Kalimba Edwards, Raiders. Age: 29.

A situational pass-rusher, Kalimba Edwards should be good for 4-6 sacks in 2009.

Ebenezer Ekuban, Broncos. Age: 33.

Despite coming off a torn Achillies, Ebenezer Ekuban managed five sacks in 2008. He had seven sacks in 2006, but missed all of 2007.

Bert Berry, Cardinals. Age: 34.

Bert Berry, who had five sacks in the regular season, managed two sacks in the first two playoff games. But at 34, his best days are behind him.

Josh Thomas, Colts. Age: 28.

A 4-3 left end who plays well against the run.

Jason Babin, Chiefs. Age: 29.

Believe it or not, Jason Babin had 20 percent of Kansas City's sack total in 2008. Babin had a whopping two sacks in the final three games of the year.

Jason Taylor, Redskins. Age: 35.

Jason Taylor had two sacks against the Eagles in a Week 16 battle, which is a good sign. Still, he's way too old to be anything other than a rotational guy.

DTs...we have better options, imo (even if the better ones are RFAs).

Gabe Watson (RFA), Cardinals. Age: 25.

Tendered by Cardinals (2nd round)

One of the many reasons Arizona was able to improve so much on defense throughout the year. The Cardinals can't afford to let Giant Gabe go anywhere.

Anthony Montgomery (RFA), Redskins. Age: 25.

Tendered by Redskins (low)

Anthony Montgomery, a very talented defensive lineman, didn't make the leap expected of him this season because of a broken hand and a knee injury. The Washington Post predicts the Redskins will slap a second-round tender on Montgomery.

Kedric Golston (RFA), Redskins. Age: 26.

A rotational nose tackle who just had ankle surgery. That's not much of a concern.

Dewayne Robertson, Broncos. Age: 27.

It almost seems like Dewayne Robertson has never been healthy. Robertson has some talent but his knees are shot.

Here's a list of guys still available that I like...

DE:

Vonnie Holliday - Could fill in as a starter but would be a great backup a la Wallace

Kalimba Edwards - Reminds me a lot of Brayton, could be a very good DE

Josh Thomas - Indy guy

DT:

Anthony Montgomery (RFA Low) - Not sure what the comp would be but is said to be very good, young DT

Shaun Cody - Lots of ?'s but would add depth

Ed Johnson - Another Indy guy

OL:

Mike Goff - May not be willing to be a backup

Grey Ruegammer - Great back up, a lot like Hangartner but older

Kevin Shaffer - Bad starter/very solid backup

Others:

Jason Kyle - great LS, enough said

Mark Jones - needed for competition at K/PR

Torry Holt - He's still one of the best and has said he wanted to play in Carolina

Leonard Weaver - One of the best young FB in the league

Warrick Dunn - Great option for a 3rd option back if Williams or Stewart gets hurt

Cato June - Yet another Indy guy

      I have been looking for a dropped pass list and all that comes up is QBs. And team stats. When I do receivers I get the passing stats for a handful that threw passes this year.    I wanted to be accurate but anyhow I was looking because thought I remembered reading where T Mac had more drops than XL this year.  One of you many smarter than me people here,I would appreciate it if you know how to pull that up, please do. Thank you.    And yeah I know that isn’t all there is to it I just thought it was interesting.  Of course what the hell is a drop lol.

      I agree with this and I think it's worth mentioning too that Bryce is not consistent on his placement and especially velocity and that in large part is driven by his footwork. We all know XL doesn't have the best hands and I don't know that he can overcome that. Cam always had the heater that just hit your hands and sank into your grip, where Bryce has some that are harder thrown, some soft. Bryce stepping into a pass looks so much different than that hop throw thing he does. I think XL really needs to hit the jugs machine and start learning how to catch all these different touch passes. TMac and Coker don't have these issues. If XL doesn't get some work in he's going to be out of the league in the next couple of years.

      I think most people like XL from a personal standpoint. I don't think he's stupid either. Although if we are being realistic he is lacking in football IQ at this point in time and it cannot be disputed that he has not taken working on his craft seriously at all times given the body of work on the field. It speaks for itself. I myself have defended him at times given the circumstances of our QB room. But he is now in his third year and 25 years old. We are not in a position as a franchise to go around babying anyone especially first round draft picks. He needs to take his position and his football career seriously or he is going to end up selling used cars somewhere. I hope he realizes this and takes an extended break from social media because that mess certainly isn't going to increase his net worth if he ends up out of the league. And these hanger on types will disappear quick too once that money dries up and it surely will eventually. We'll see how he responds.
