4-0

Panthro

Recommended Posts

Reminiscing with a few coworkers on the first few weeks of the season it became clear to me that the Panthers were pretty close to being 4-0.

Count them....Doucet/King TD's, Jordy Nelson's TD, Blocked Field Goal/OPI on Shockey

To me they show a team not floundering and struggling but a team that was just a couple plays away from being 4-0.

Go Panthers.

yep. it was only a couple mistakes in each game that we made that kept them from turning into a 'W'.

this isn't a team that sucks. this isn't a team thats going to get blown out by anyone. this is a team that could beat anyone. this is a team that just has to quit making so many stupid mistakes.

the talent is there. it's all in their heads.

To risk being annoying, we were a few free agent signing away from winning. A few weeks ago when I was all about signing Tommie Harris and Pat Williams, a lot of people replied to me with "We're not going to win this season anyway, might as well get our young players time instead of signing old guys to 1 year deals."

Considering the types of losses the team has had, it turns out those old guys very well could have be the difference between 1-3 and 4-0.

I liked that we are on the verge but I can't tell if we are a talented team making mistakes or an average team scoring an A+ for effort.

The catch 22 is that because they are playing well it makes it much harder to excuse them losing. Rivera standards are pretty high and if we haven't won at least 5 games by the end of the season then I will feel pretty crappy.

Under all of these conditions Rivera gets 1 year free of any judgments but for now it looks like he's a pretty good coach with high standards. Many of the players have those same standards. So they should be held to them. But not to the point of being unreasonable. They know it's unnacceptable to lose, there are just certain realities that are hard to overcome for now.

yea unfortunately neither of those guys would have contributed to special teams, where two games were blown. Nor could they have prevented Beason getting shot by a sniper on an elementary pass to King who probably hasnt caught a pass since.

IMO we are not as good as many think, as well as not as bad as many think.

We are a decent football team that has some extraordinary flashes. We could be really good in a couple of years.

Things to hope for:

Cam to continue to progress at this rate.

Beason coming back to health.

Signing a big, tall, no. 1 WR (think VJ).

Drafting/Signing a run stuffing/pocket collapsing DT.

If those things happen this team could get good much sooner than I was expecting.

Probably could have kept Forte under 200 yards, however. Surely would've been an overall increase in defensive performance which I think would have prevented a lot of scoring against us.

    • I mean the whole defense was trash, he was at least trying. Besides if you put a all-pro among 10 PSers, that all-world will look human. It's very hard to judge very bad units and find the best players among them. Horn and Mjack played well too, there was 0 pass rush and -1777784 run defense.
    • I was looking back and seen Evan Neal has made the switch to OG after awful years at OT.......I wanted him over Icky for his tricep alone..... I was 100% stroud too, I was super pissed about his record setting and playoff leading start......I had arich vastly over the midget BY too. But right now, BY is about the only one on the up&up. The Texans used lots of prime draft capital to help Stroud.  It's still not ready. But if you're honestly about past drafts, these GMs are not alone in making mistakes.  I still feel they should stayed put and allowed Carter to fall in their lap, but best I know Tepper had the worst rage about landing a QB for the past 5 years. The deal is with the correct coaching staff, Baker or darnold would still be here....Baker has signed 3 years for 100 million, which is a great NFL QB contract. Tepper hiring rhule and his shitty Baylor/temple staff was a massive setback given rhule was in control too. Then panic set in an d fitteerererererer had to make a winner and find a QB. Ugh.....I hope they are back...
    • Also maybe the biggest part is his fromer college buddy, Lord Lamar told the GM to sign him. It was done nearly right after and guess who was the first person Alexander met at ravens stadium??
