Fox Speaks on Peppers

Fox is doing the right thing... Downplay the character concerns and motivation issues, while not showing his cards on what he hopes to do with Peppers. If I were a coach I'd be trying to make Peppers seem as attractive to the other 31 teams as possible, and that's what Fox did. "If he was my son, I'd be proud of him."

the comments to the article are retarded..

IMHO, i think Fox wants Pep to stay another year and blitz the hell outta him so he can be "used" how he thinks he shud be to keep him happy and stay in Carolina.. but i think he will be gone by the draft.. ugh

i think you're right.

one of the things that stuck out to me was this comment:

Regardless of whether Peppers has reached his full potential with the Panthers, Fox said Peppers has had “a terrific career,” which includes four Pro Bowl appearances.

“If he was my son,” said Fox, “I would be proud of him.”

foxy making it personal and trying to hug at the old heart strings. smart move. i really think that they would like him to stay. they know there is a big chance that it won't happen but still...they are content to sit and wait it out. either they have pep or they have compensation. i think they are fine either way.

plan A is to keep him and that has always been the case. plan B is to get something for him.

btw...the 20% they were talking about wasn't 20% of the cap space going to one guy...it is peppers salary has gone up 20% from last year and is something that they planned for and can manage.

there are going to be those people who will say that all this is crap and the FO is making a huge mistake in the way they are handling it but the truth is, they know what they are doing and there is no reason to hit the panic button. there is no reason to cave to peppers demands. peppers will blink first.

“Not at all,” Fox said when asked if he thought having Peppers would cause problems. “He never has. I don’t know why it would start now.”

Umm.. cause maybe this is the first year he's said he wants out?? Not bashing Fox, but this is kind of a stupid point to bring up.

i don't think he brought it up.

basically all he is saying there is that pep has never been a lockerroom problem and he doesn't think that, based on what he knows about pep, that he would do that now.

peppers isn't going to handle the situation like fatty jenks. hopefully if he stays he'll see the logic in "shut up and play".

take a page from the albert haynesworth playbook and...

- sign your tender

- make sure that the 1 year contract you sign has clauses in it that says if you achieve certain things the panthers can't tag you again

- play your butt off and help us get a ring

- become the highest rated FA in 2010...an uncapped year.

meanwhile we concentrate on building our Dline so that we will be ready to fill the void.

Lol, I don't expect that many people in the nfl know the cap in and out. There are a select few that do, but not many know it from top to bottom. That being said his cap number for this coming season is 13% of the overall cap number.

i think it was pretty close to 12% in '08 and we did ok. pep got just over $14mil and the cap was at around $116mil.

    • Winning games and be a +500 team are good. But the goal is to win Super Bowl.  Chiefs had Alex Smith, went to playoff twice and still replaced him.   BY as of now: - To many fumbles - Completion in the intermediate range is just far below acceptable - Not enough of a deep throw threat....   The stats you try use is deceiving.  Catchable......  That is an opinion. Show me the completion %. And also, how does BY compare to other QBs using the stats you cited. Oh... ranked at 27

    • The Entitlement Paradox: When Winning Isn't Enough for Panther fans.    Just the other season(s) we were praying for wins by any means. Brought in every run of the mill QB you could think of.  We know all sides of the ball was bad like egregious bad. However some how we have won 5 games and TOXIC ENTITLEMENT has emerged.    We are a team that has to take wins by anymeans nothing has changed. Keep pounding means it aint gonna be perfect!!    Some panther fans have now developed a toxic entitlement where even victories feel insufficient, demanding flawless performance, or perfection, which stems from historical success in which we dont have any lol. This mindset poisons communities by fostering relentless criticism, harassment, and ingratitude that undermine team morale and alienate casual supporters. For the new Carolina Panthers, this could manifest as fans booing Bryce Young after gritty wins for low passing yards despite low turnovers, pressuring tepper into premature changes mid-rebuild, or driving away talent through online abuse!! eroding the positive momentum from their recent 4-game streak has brought us. Trust and believe the players do see your toxicity.    Anyways here are some positive stats.      Most Accurate QB on... 20+ Yard Throws 1. Drake Maye (79.2%) 2. Sam Darnold (79.2%) 3. Bryce Young (75.0%) 10-19 Yard Throws 1. Jaxson Dart (88.0%) 2. Jayden Daniels (82.9%) 3. Drake Maye (80.7%) 0-9 Yard Throws 1. Drake Maye (92.9%) 2. Spencer Rattler (92.6%) 3. Bryce Young (91.7%) @FantasyPtsData
