Otah to IR

He might come back. But we can´t count on that Hurney.

Draft Kalil. Move Gross to RT. If Otah come back healty then put him on RG.

sucks major balls to use a 1st round pick on the OL....with the defensive problems we have.

not saying I would disagree if we have shot at Kalil....but he starts are RT. Gross is still playing to well to move him yet.

looking at his contract info:

7/25/2008: Signed a five-year, $14.33 million contract. The deal contains $8.965 million guaranteed, including a $6.4 million signing bonus. Another $36,000 is available through incentives. 2011: $1.035 million, 2012: $1,076,250, 2013: Free Agent

next year looks like backup pay (which is about all i would ever trust him for at this point). we could go out and draft another RT next year and not feel like money is wasted. in the next year or two we'd probably be talking a new contract with him if he was healthy. might as well use that money on someone that hasn't proven themselves to be chronically hurt. we could keep this guy around for next year and see if he can stay healthy. if not, just let him go.

no way should we go any further under the delusion that he can be relied upon.

Seems like no one has any confidence in Bell, sad because IMO this kid is a hard worker and just needs to get some more gametime experience...... He did well against NO, yeah he killed a drive and had some atrocious penalties against ATL, but all in all he does have some potential

bell is a good backup. i don't see him as a starter and we don't need to go into next season counting on him anymore than we do otah.

we need to act as if we have a giant hole at RT.

bell can change that perception, but no one should go under the idea that bell can be a starter after 3 games, two of which he didn't hurt us in. that's just not grounds for handing the position over.

I don't considered players that were good when not injured to be "busts."

Who the hell can prognosticate health? You make a pick based on talent and hope for the best.

I don't blame the player.

I blame Hurney for not preparing.

Here's the bottom line and we all know it, or should as it does not take a rocket scientist to know, that a 24 year old Right Tackle with no meniscus lining in his knee is NOT a good situation and it should have been addressed.

Again, this is a business, and a player's past injuries predict his futures, there is just no question about it.

No meniscus, means no cushion for that knee and constant swelling for a position that requires pressure on knees.

Dumb, just incredibly, and inexplcably dumb. As much as I love Thomas Davis, its the same story.

don't lie to him. you'll only make it worse

if no one is going to pay him then why not cut him, and just get him after he proves he's 100%? or stick him on the practice squad.

I would just hate to see another team scoop him and then have him play 14 games for them. He is at the age where people either become lazy shits or get that competitive fire and want to better themselves.

    • I think the book has been fairly written on Darnold, and by and large stays true. He can be rattled by pressure, and will lose his composure. If a team can get to him and have something go wrong in the plan, the mistakes and errors will pile up. Rams have a better offense, Seahawks sport a better defense. Should be a good 1.
    • Not a defense of him...an understanding of the problem. (something you seem to be lacking right now) 🙄 Bryce in a Canales offense is not an example of a stylistic mismatch, but I can give you one if that helps. When he was playing for the Panthers, Cam Newton sat under OC's running Coryell type offenses. Newton had a big arm and was a strong runner. He fit into that sort of attack very well. Then he goes to New England, where at the time they were running an Earhardt-Perkins system (similar to WCO In a lot of what they do but very different terminology). The Patriot offenses back then were heavily based on timing and rhythm style passing, not something that Newton was especially well suited for. So he washed out at New England, not because he had poor ability (his abilities had been on display here on a regular basis) but because he didn't fit what they wanted to do with their offense. I always go back to Jeff Garcia as one of the prime examples of this issue. Garcia in a WCO looked like a world beater. Put him in any other scheme though...yikes!  So again, Young's issues here have nothing to do with any failure to mesh with Canales. Hell, is say Canales has actually done pretty well at adapting his system to who he has rather than trying to jam square pegs into round holes. Again, it doesn't take an elite level of football knowledge to get this. It's pretty basic. But if you're not even capable of understanding what the real problem is, how are you going to know you to find the right solution? 🤔
