Why Did We Get Rid Of Kasay?

1. He can't kick the ball out of the endzone on kickoffs.

2. No one's wasting a roster spot on an extra kicker.

3. If Kasay was the only kicker on the team, there's no telling how many kickoffs would have been returned for kickoffs so far this season since he can't kick it out of bounds and save the Panthers' Special Teams from themselves.

Thank God for the extra spot. I'm so glad Armanti is able to be on the active roster for those thrilling punt returns. Mare might be the most worthless piece of poo to ever suit up for the panthers. He missed another routine NFL field goal today and attempted what might have been the worst onside kick I've ever seen a professional attempt.

Yea cause saving that extra roster spot sure has made a difference for our special teams

I, for one, thank you very much for cutting Kasay. Morestead, our punter who also kicks off, has more touchbacks than any other kicker in the league (in the 30's now I believe). Kasay made 52, 48, 44 & most importantly, a 26 yard FG today. We already had Mare on our roster a few years ago; could have told you he is terrible - that is why he has played for so many teams. Kasay is also benefitting by kicking in domes a lot.

BTW - I had picked y'all to win. I was pretty certain of it. I hope Cam's shoulder won't be a problem.

but I think the better route would have been to keep Kasay and find a punter that could handle kickoffs.

A lot of people said that right away. Still more said that after Kasay went to New Orleans.

Frankly, I thought and still think that he should have been a Panther until he was ready to retire. He was good in the locker room too, and I'm sure his leadership is missed.

Kasay: 22/27, long 53 (81.5%), 33/33 on PAT

Mare: 14/18, long 45 (77.8%), 18/19 on PAT

(yeah, I know you weren't serious...)

Not to mention a few of those kicks came early in the season when the holder had to adjust to Kasay's left foot. Anyone who thinks we should have cut Kasay, especially to make room for Mare, is delusional.
