Anyone else impressed with Jason Shirley?

im impressed with him Kearse, and Neblett. sorry Edwards you might be odd man out next year if Frank and Jason keep progressing.

why is everyone giving McClain a pass and not Fua? he gets moved off spots just as easy, does not redirect well, and does not get a push or disrupt the pocket. i havent seen anymore flashes from him than Fua.

I think everyone here understands that DT's need time to develop. That doesn't mean that they should play damn near every snap for the first 9 games to the detriment of the rest of the team.

If they need development time, put them behind someone better and use them in a rotation until they prove they can handle it.

Keeping them on the field at all costs this year has been, imo, asinine.

In reality we didnt plan to use two rookies to start the season. We also tried to find some Vet help there to no avail. It was a bad situation to start with and it got a whole lot worse when we lost guys at that position.

Overall I've been impressed with our DTs since our two 3rd rounders got put on IR, though personally I do think Mcclain had his moments.

Unfortunately our corners got the sh*t exposed out of them. Butler can play but he isn't going to win every battle, and he needs safety help often. Would be a better nickle I think.

CB is def something we need to upgrade next year and not by the draft. We need a solid #2 starting CB that can play right away. Capt. and Butler are good nickle backs but thats about it. We just need a true outside CB that can man up on bigger WRs.

I think yesterday proved my suspicion that Fua might not be ready to start. Fua needs to bulk up so he doesn't get tossed around like a rag doll. The combo of Kearse, Neblett, and Shirley held the line of scrimmage well against the Falcons average offensive line and Turner. It takes time to develop DT's, I have a good feeling about McClain but not so much about Fua.

DT and CB our our main focus positions in my eyes and whether FA or through the draft, if we can upgrade, upgrade. no pussy footing...identify your weaknesses and prescribe.

Kearse and Shirley are both huge. They are much larger and longer than McClain and Fua. They don't get pushed off the ball and they drive the lineman back. McClain and Fua dont have the size or power IMO

been impressed with shirley since hardknocks with cinci...the mans a player and most important he was a olinemen so that could benefit in future succes..........main problem is the liabilty we have at the saftey position(martin).

Agree it would be crazy to cut Fua, but you cannot deny that our run stopping and inside pressure has been markedly better with him off the field.

This looks like a different defense than it did 3 weeks ago.

I was very impressed with him, Kearse and Neblett. They are playing well.

Shirley is a really big dude and may be worth hanging onto next year ,just to see if his upside is warrented.
