Should the Panthers give DA another 1 year contract?

DA and Jimmy were the 2 worst QBs in the NFL last. Neither has thrown a pass this year. We are in HUGE trouble if Cam goes down.

If Cam goes down, it don't matter who the back up is. Its Cam.

DA = Vet QB who has played in and had success in this offense. Not really gonna be many 'better' options at back up really. Clausen does not bring any of that to the table.

I think it could be a good move to re sign but really not overly concerned with who the back up is really.. because its going to be a huge drop off regardless.

I'd like to bring back DA as long as it's not a cap issue. I guess it also depends on how the coaching staff feels about Jimmy Clausen's development and if they believe he can be a suitable backup for the future. Who knows, maybe some team will offer a trade for Jimmy, maybe a 3rd if we're very lucky.

i like DA. he and cam seem to have developed a chemistry, hopefully that's transferred to the rest of the offense. he arguably showed the most promise out of any of the QBs in training camp, and i think our offense would still be decent with him at the helm.

if we can keep him on the cheap i'd love to have him stick around.

I think JC is going to end up being a much better QB than many here will be able to handle.

If he works extremely hard and squeezes every ounce of his talent to the maximum of his abilities he has a chance to be one of the top 10 QBs in the league.

Unfortunately by "the league" I meant the CFL.

I believe DA helped Cam in reading defenses, how to look off defenders and so on. I really want to see him back up Cam for one more season, and at the same time, bring in another QB for him to groom, to take over as back up to Cam.

doesn't really matter, him, or any other decent vet that might be a FA that is willing to hold a clipboard. DA was brought in because he knows the system, but we run so much "cam specific" stuff i doubt DA matters

Why change anything on the Offense other than Jimmy Clausen?

Still not sure what the O-line will be with all the guys who were injured this season. Only the defense needs a lot of attention.

The STs will be better when some of these guys forced to play defense move back to STs next season. Should be one HARD-HITTING ST unit next year.

    • That makes me wonder, how many starting tackles in the NFL and/or elite tackles have short arms? I feel like there’s probably lots of tackles that end up being drafted in later rounds because they had short arms or didn’t have the physical tools.     also why not draft a tackle in the later rounds that we could move to guard or center if they fail, instead of drafting a center? If we draft a center we know they aren’t going to play tackle but if you draft a tackle they could end up playing any of the 3 positions, look at BC for example. It feels like it’s a better decision to draft a tackle in later rounds than a center.
    • Damn back to 10th. I only caught the last 5 minutes but some of those 3's were horrible lol. In that close of game you can't be launching those many hail mary's when you could be chipping away from the foul line. I guess no one wanted to get in the paint and didn't trust the refs to give them the calls maybe? Gonna watch the highlights to get a better idea of the flow of the game
    • I agree.  The Big 12 is a good conference, and he is the swinging dick in that conference.  If Bill Self retires, that sets Kansas back a bit, and Arizona moves even further ahead as the best team in that conference.  Arizona can crush west coast recruiting with USC / UCLA no longer being relevant for LA kids, and Gonzaga not being able to compete moneywise.   If Lloyd comes here, he will be second fiddle to Duke every single year in NIL and recruits.  Not to mention the entire SEC and Big East for kids who want to stay in those regions to play. This is why I keep saying go get Mark Few.  Has proven he can do more with less from an X / O perspective but can also recruit All American players and compete at a high level. He's a god at Gonzaga, but for $9M he'd make the move as that's 4x what he's making at Gonzaga, and makes him the highest paid coach in the country.
