Out of 30 players, Cam got 25 votes to The Golden Calf of Bristol's 5.

“Newton. He’s a way better player. Much, much better. Cam’s like 10 times better. Cam’s only going to get better. He’s scary as it is right now.”

Thing is there's such a specific subset of people who would prefer The Golden Calf of Bristol to Newton (with both fans and players) and that's what's reflected here.

Assuming that for your opinion to count you have to have some working knowledge of football and how the QB position works then people likely to prefer The Golden Calf of Bristol with an identical supporting cast or over the long term are Denver fans, Carolina haters, or Holy Rollers*.

An impartial observer who is looking at QB play and individual ability with some knowledge behind it will take Newton almost every time. It's obvious with the Players Poll here and if you equalize the volume of the different fan subsets it's pretty clear there too.

Honestly I wish people would stop even asking this question in the media - it's a flawed comparison at best.

*No offense to people who are super-hyper-christian. I know Newton is a religious guy too but The Golden Calf of Bristol and his vocal in your face I'm religious style wins him the "I may or may not know about football but I LOVE GOD" crowd.

I have to admit, I am more Bama than Auburn, and I really had to respect him as a player outside of the team that he played for. This kid spotted a Nick Saban Defense 24 points and then pulled off the greatest comeback in the history of the SEC. Normally when Nick Saban gets a 10 point lead its over. I honestly think that if Cam had gone to Miss State, they could have won a National Championship.

I'd like to know the 5 who voted for The Golden Calf of Bristol.

Very likely the people who he has beaten with 4th quarter comebacks this year.

Not saying The Golden Calf of Bristol IS better, but that kind of thing will leave an impression.

I'll bet the three pro-The Golden Calf of Bristol comments were from a Falcon, a Buc, and a Saint. Wishful thinking, lads.

I kind of doubt that actually because it seems people who play against Cam have tremendous respect for what he can do.

    • https://www.yahoo.com/sports/article/versatile-2nd-db-named-panthers-154026075.html Smith-Wade's ability to play corner, nickel and safety makes him valuable to a young defense trying to rebuild after finishing last in the NFL a year ago. "Chau took advantage of an opportunity,'' coach Dave Canales said. "He made tackles. He had an opportunity on an interception, and he made it.'' Our defense has got to come alive for us to have a chance of winning our Division!
    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.
