We are set at DT for next season.

After McClain and Fua went down and Shirley and Kearse started for us, our run D improved from 30th to 21st in just 4 games allowing an average of 95 rushing yards per game. Also, Shirley has a sack in every game he started. Don't be surprise if Fua is cut next season. Shirley and Edwards should be our starting DTs next seaso

no way Fua gets cut a season after spending a draft pick on him... especially the way Rivera kept making remarks about how he was improving

don't expect any draft picks to be spent on DT... we're loaded with players at the position at the moment, and they're all going to fight for a spot in TC next year

makes no sense to me how people on this forum keep harping that we need to draft a DT again next year when they haven't been patient with the ones we drafted this year. what if we hadn't given players like CJ and James Anderson the time to grow into their positions?

Fua looks like he lacks strength at the point of attack. There's a reason our d improved when he went down.In all honesty, fua's rookie season looked just as bad as pickles. I'm not saying cut him but, I'd be open to spending a 2 on the defensive tackle position.

He at least deserves an actual offseason of professional workouts before they give up on him. A DT straight out of college in a NORMAL year usually won't be strong enough, but a DT straight out of college with no offseason doesn't help.

I question most people's ability to judge positions outside of skill positions, and even those are skewed often..

I won't be surprised if DT is left alone.. either they bring in a stud DT or they don't bring in anyone, pretty simple.

with how we have been abused this year....I don't expect DT, LB, or even S to be left alone. Not saying we see new starters....but we have major issues on all levels.

like this.. and no offense.. but rookie DTs get pushed off the point of attack, it says nothing about their strength, but their technique.. Rookies have this problem A LOT. Trying to say "we should pick up a 2nd rounder" isn't going to change a damn thing..

how many times should that be repeated so someone catches on?

No way we are set at DT. We will be bringing in at least one.

If so, I'd wager it won't be through the draft, and any FA sign would most likely be a name that won't blow anyone away. Only big name would probably have to involve a trade.

Personally I think we stand with what we have if Edwards is fully ready to go....

i don't think we are "set" or even settled @ DT.

i think/hope we'll bring in at least one more player either in the draft or via FA (preferably via FA).

i feel good about the competition we'll have at DT next year and i'm pretty certain we'll have at least a very solid rotation there.

it's not near the worry it once was for me.

totally agreed....

however, drafting a DT is going to raise the same concerns you have now.. which is my point, we either bring in a game changer or more depth.. as mentioned already, we have good depth.

I mean, at some point it's tremendously ignorant to keep thinking you'll get a game changing DT in the draft..

    • Good game so far.  Solid trench battles, two young well built defenses, and my 2 fave coaches.  Stafford is really damn good.  SEA OL is overperforming.
    • Okay then. To me that means Russell Wilson was Coryell. Because I see the proposition completely in the Russell Wilson punt/pass put it up for grabs mold. Count on the receiver to catch it or knock it down.    And the reason I thought that was the intent with Legette is the abysmal downfield game from 2023. As in, there was barely any.   I look at it as if… the result of a deep attempt isn’t as important as the opponent understanding they have to defend it. So I was all for some 50/50s. Coryell, Walsh whoever.  I do favor the Coryell approach personally but also very much value versatility, it doesn’t have to be strict. Just make the defense defend the whole field, however you do it. It has to include downfield throws.
    • Sold, or in the process of being sold. Could be either way. Consider this for a second... Last season, our defensive coordinator steered what many have called the worst defense in NFL history.  Canales would absolutely have been justified in firing him, and no one would have blamed him if he had.  But what did he do? He gave Evero another chance to come back and prove he could be better. Does that tell us something about Canales? I think it does. Now apply that to Bryce 😕
