How did that work out?

100% correct.

Cam throws too many picks. Look for him to come crashing back to earth next year.

Uh, since when does The Golden Calf of Bristol not throw interceptions?

I counted 4 last Sunday plus a fumble, funny what happens when the Broncos defense can't keep a lid on the opponent and The Golden Calf of Bristol has to start throwing the ball.

all he does is win...

except for when he doesn't.

In the meantime...

Cam has just set the rookie passing yardage record with 83 fewer attempts and 12 fewer interceptions with only 7 fewer TD's then Manning, set the all-time record for rushing TD's by a QB and shattered the record for total TD's by a rookie and is on the verge of being the first player in NFL history to throw for 4,000 yards and rush for 500 yards.

...are we really still comparing him to The Golden Calf of Bristol?

Wins are a team stat.

to be fair The Golden Calf of Bristol is still like 7-3...

but I agree that his wins are as much about the team as they are him.

as to whoever posted this one, I wouldn't worry about our crazy "fans" on other boards.

Exactly. Better there than here.

I am sure he is soaking up the love over there.

Actually, no. The first response after his post was:

Eh, I dunno about this. I care about points. Panthers are 5th in the NFL in points scored, we're 22nd. Our defense was a HUGE part of our winning streak, mixed with The Golden Calf of Bristol's ability to put points up when he needed to.

As we can see lately, when the defense doesn't perform, The Golden Calf of Bristol and this offense currently cannot keep up. That's what's been happening with Cam, which is why they have so many more losses than we do. Just look at some of their losses...

30-23 against Green Bay

34-29 against Chicago

30-27 against New Orleans

49-35 against Detroit

31-23 against Atlanta

I'd put a bit of blame on the defense for those losses. Not all of it, but a decent amount.

I think it's a little silly to say that Cam's season is just a meaningless passing yard stat, when he's put 34 total TD's on the board to 18 turnovers, while The Golden Calf of Bristol has put 18 TD's on the board to 10 turnovers (admittedly in about 4.5 fewer games).

EDIT:

And how in the world can you say they're throwing away another season to coach up a new rookie QB? They're building for the future with a great young QB. And The Golden Calf of Bristol didn't "take the job", Orton lost it by playing like crap after we tried to trade him away to give it to Tim in the offseason.

I really, really like The Golden Calf of Bristol, but there's too much wrong in this post IMO.

ok maybe not, but I had to post this beauty....

And most of the new "winners" in Carolina would say the same thing. But you know what, I know for a fact the reason we're not in the playoffs, is Newton. Cam Newton knows for a fact the reason we're not in the playoffs is Cam Newton. His interceptions and inability to keep his head straight and win easy games that were tied or we were down by three despite having ample opportunities where the defense kept the game close all the way to the very end, have cost Carolina 5-6 games this year. I'd much rather take The Golden Calf of Bristol and make the playoffs than a million rookie records and over inflated yards stat that's a result of a very well designed offense with exception talent.

Please give me a break. Panthers are done. Broncos are moving on, and the number 1 reason why one's moving forward and the other one is not is: one throws picks, one doesn't. One can finish games, one doesn't. One can win with a lead or comeback from behind. One can mainly win with a lead and if the stars line-up otherwise he cries about it. One's a great motivational leader. One thought he knew what to do but as it turns out it requires our offensive lineman to pick him up late in the game so he doesn't turn into a defeatist while there's still time on the clock and the game is within one score. Newton thinks the world is over if Carolina falls behind.

Cam finally got it right, or so they say, this past Sunday, but it's yet another game where Carolina led against probably the worst team in the NFL at this point in the season. Probably his easiest game of the season.

Only losers who care more about meaningless stats instead of the playoffs or super bowl would say such a thing. I am appalled by the Panthers throwing away a perfectly good season and wasting it on the development of yet another rookie quarterback. It's a nice way of crapping all over your fan base, while you rake in money at the expense of the popularity of a rookie quarterback.

Put The Golden Calf of Bristol in Carolina's offense day 1 and put Cam Newton in Denver's offense mid-season, and see what happens. Heck put Matt Moore back into this offense and see what would have happened. Newton had to beat Jimmy Clausen for the starting job. It was his before they even drafted him. At least The Golden Calf of Bristol took the job away from a legitimate NFL starter. And to be honest, until Carolina gets some serious competition at that back-up position, nobody's going light that fire under Cam's ass.

This sounds like a Panthers fan who wrote it.

But, we all know that if Tim played for the Panthers the defense would have to actually show up every Sunday or they will be called out by the media, unlike with Cam. They know in order for the Panthers to win their rock star QB has to be in good for in order for him to show in the last 5 minutes of the game. Anything before that is pure blasphemy.

God forbid if the team forces him to have to make TDs or throw more than 5 balls during the first 55 minutes of the game. There would've been hell to pay by the The Golden Calf of Bristol Worshippers both in and out of the media.

I guess some of you Panther fans would simply settle for what Tim is offering the team and would expect more.

    • The league would protect him.  The amount of poo Jerry Jones has had exposed and got away with?  The amount of poo Stephen Ross has got away with?  How long Dan Snyder got away with essentially fuging sex trafficking employees and poo???????  Taking down JR was a hit job.  You think the other 31 owners, especially the older ones aren’t blathering, blatant, ignorant ass, bigoted rich racists who have committed far worse things than Blue Jean Fridays?  The ones I named above have DEFINITELY did worse than what JR was accused of.  And do you think guys like Steve Smith would’ve been viewing him as a father figure if they felt that’s who he was?  JR pissed the league off with that last lockout situation and they made him pay.  They lined a new guy up to join their billionaire boys club in Tepper, and they prolly slid a pretty penny to Jonathan Jones to write the “expose,” to get JR out of here.  Again, all the owners I’ve listed above have been verified on record for doing worse poo, yet they’re still running their organizations, unquestioned.  They hand-picked Tepper long before JR was forced out, so he isn’t going anywhere.  Sadly.  fug the NFL.  (Also, to be clear, it’s always fug racism, bigotry, and sexual exploitation - not ever excusing it.  Just making the point that the NFL isn’t operating under this clear standard of justice applied to each and every case)
    • I was still in the throes of a contentious divorce and my job at the time had me work on Sundays.  At the beginning of the season I tried to still work around Sundays so I could see our games.  I think after Bryce came back from the benching, I said fug it.  First time in my life I intentionally didn’t watch our games, even through the Atlanta finale.  In the past, even if we didn’t live up to expectations, I would watch to still support and at least analyze player development, strengths and weaknesses, coaching, etc., but Bryce makes all of that a moot point, so I stopped watching. Again, this is asinine,  it if he is retained (still can’t believe this is even a possibility of a conversation due to how shitty our organization has become under Tepper), I will NOT watch next season until he is gone.
    • Live look at Bryce playing ping pong.
