Private workout for Hakeem Nicks

Per PFT: Nicks sheds his February fat

Eyebrows were raised when North Carolina receiver Hakeem Nicks shot from 212 pounds at the Scouting Combine to more than 225 at his Pro Day workout only a few weeks later.

Nicks apparently has regained his girlish figure.

Per a league source, Nicks is back down to 212.

We’re told that he weighed in at that number earlier today at a private workout with the Carolina Panthers.

Still, the sudden weight gain at a time when Nick should have been getting on the scale seven times a day will continue to cause some teams to wonder whether he’ll pack on the pounds whenever left for a short period of time to his own devices.

And Ding Dongs.

i'd much rather take Tate later on in the draft *dies a little bit more on the inside*

I think Tate has been overlooked because of Nicks. It's very possible he drops to us in the 4th which would be a steal IMO. He could have easily been a 1st-2nd round pick if it wasn't for the injury. He will still be recovering his first year, but we don't need him to make an impact right away anyway. Adding him with Jarrett and Robinson would give us a great group of young receivers for the future.

Tate later in the draft would be a good pickup...Nicks in the 2nd would NOT be a good pickup. He's talented but we have other more pressing needs.

Not to mention I've heard that there is a good chance Nicks goes in the 1st round, which seems completely retarded to me. I don't see how he is worth a 1st round pick at all. I'd say he's probably worth a 2nd (especially late 2nd) but like you said we have other needs and are short on draft picks as well, so I'd much rather pass on him, even if he's there.

he could be great, we need other things first. Fox always takes best player available

we don't even have a first round pick so this is not an issue

i think you're right. bigger immediate needs for sure. if he is the BPA i see us taking him but the likelihood of him being there when we pick in the 2nd isn't very high. i could see him dropping down to the 2nd but not far.

i do like the idea of brandon tate, especially for the long term but i would rather see us address the bigger and more immediate needs. if fox/hurney goes BPA ....that may mean that we take tate but i don't see that happening unl;ess they know he is going to be healthy enough to start next year. if they are in win now, mode, i don't see them drafting project players which is what tate would be.

I would love to have Brandon Tate but I think that Kenny Moore can be just as explosive and does not cost a draft pick in a year that we don't have that many. (I think we still have him don't we)

I do not see Nicks coming here. I think he'll go late first and if NYG sees him sitting there he will be a Giant.

    • I member him staying after practices with only to see he was wearing heavy weight vest, one of his trademarks. He also put in 10 years, right? People forget he was the ST stud that called the snap and made sure everyone lined up right. He was one of the "glue" guys that bought his "lunch pail" to work.... He was a willing solider, all teams need a couple of them. He blocked for sooo many panthers RBs- Davis, lane, Williams, foster, goings and when there was huge injuries he took over the starter duties and had a couple 100 yard games. If you followed hoover, he took the perfect RB path cause he was just a slow heavy one himself....
    • Walker likely depends on a couple of things. What exactly did Dan promise him, to start with.  How much other interest he actually had for a starter job at high pay is another question. It isn’t outside the realm of possibility that he could stay on as a swing tackle waiting to take Moton’s spot when it opens.    I can’t get myself to consider Icky as a viable anything until we see him back on the field.     Hunt seems to be a team player and good guy but I don’t think he is worth what he is being paid. I have him tentatively earmarked for cap causality in the near future.
    • Definitely epic tv..... A man who wont cheat for a poke dont want one bad enough.
