some updates, Landry opted to not go for the offseason surgery again and is trying to rehab his Achilles through alternative medicine. Shanahan was mum on his future status for the most part, indicating he's probably on his way out.

moar info on his FA status and what the surgery would do for him

There is no reason to take a flier on a guy who refuses surgery and hope to get better at a position that is not that bad for us. Godfrey is getting better at this point and finally showing he can play SS. He however is not a FS and would suck playing deep. It makes no sense to move him now that he finally is getting the hang of it.

There are likely to be other guys who we can pick up at FS who will be safer and still reasonable. Washington is dumping him for a reason. Who have they dumped lately who has turned out to be a steal?? McNabb? Haynesworth?? Campbell???

yea i'm kind of disappointed he didn't elect to just go through with the surgery. It's not even torn at this point and the procedure would probably be very beneficial for him

But anybody who can play at his caliber (when healthy) would be far too expensive. There's also Markelle Martin in the draft as an option

the difference between them and Landry is they all sucked

If the choice was between taking him or taking no one, then i might take a chance on him. But I would want to see what else is out there before we sink any money on a guy who is not 100%. We have had our share of problems with injuries. With our luck he would get reinjured or need another season to heal. I would think we need healthy guys at least to start. We seem to lose enough as it is.

Godfrey, Landry, Martin, plus a rookie would be a nice rotation at all safety positions. Even if Landry goes down we have Martin who is now an experienced vet. He shows flashes of it coming together fir him. At the same time the falcons show flashes every year only to fail horribly, but I'm thinking having Sherrid on the sideline will help extend Landry's shelf life like JStew helps DWill.

If he had gone under the knife I would have taken him but it just seems even if he does recover he will likely get injured once again. Also if he does have the surgery he will miss most of TC and prob a month or two of the season. So IMO I would rather have a guy come in and compete with martin not sit on PUP then have to get caught up.

    • I would write “give remmers tight end help” on a yellow sticky note and stuck it in shulas playbook the night before superbowl 50.
    • And don’t worry about Bryce he will be great… Peyton Manning had a horrible rookie year too 😂
    • Nothing wrong with it at all until you start telling others they are bad fans or not fans. But you are the good fan because you never say negative stuff about the team.    I did many years of that type of uninformed fanning because there really was no info and coverage like there is with the internet.    I mean, I used to go to the store and get Street and Smith’s annual football issue. That was about the extent of what you could get if you didn’t live in a big city with sportswriters covering and reporting.  There was no video to look at or replay the games and if you didn’t live in the market you could only rarely see your football team play.    TI have fanned since being a kid in the early 1960s, and as late as 1995 - ‘97 I lived in Atlanta and good luck getting more than 3 or 4 games a year on TV. No radio either. No print coverage outside of an AP recap and box unless they played Atlanta.  People today that have always had the network connection don’t know.    I wasn’t very educated about the Panthers until I finally got internet.
