2011- 13th points, 24th yards, 30th passing yards, 12th rushing yards.

2010- 7th points, 4th yards, 4th passing yards, 16th rushing

2009- 20th points, 25th yards, 26th passing yards, 21st rushing yards

He had one good year in NO which wasn't the Superbowl year.

the thing he did well for them was turnovers (giving their offense more chances) and injuring key players on other teams (got them into the superbowl).

You remember how bad the Saints defense was before he got there?

by the numbers not that different.

2008- 23rd total yards, 26th points, 23rd passing yards, 17th rushing.

Now compare that to 2009 and 2011 and you find that William's defense wasn't that much better. Truth is that defense was about dirty tactics and turnovers. But it was overhyped because of the offense.

Their defense catered to the offense. It was okay they give up yards and points, but they can get that turnover at needed times. That and of course luck and dirty play. They were overly aggressive, they totally shut us down in the second half of our game.

On another note, isn't Nolan a 3-4 guy? Be interested to see what he does with Atlanta's team

Ding ding ding.........The turnovers and sacks are what got them so highly regarded. Overall numbers were marginally better except in 2010.

2008- Sacks- 22nd, INTs- 11th, Forced Fumbles recovered- 26th

2009- Sacks- 13th, Ints- 3rd, Forced Fumbles recovered- 5th

when brees is your QB that's all you essentially need.

well...it's good enough to get you one ring, a bunch of wins and a one and done in the playoffs every year after that.

good point.

you could argue that they dont' have enough people to run a 3-4, but i'm not sure they have enough to run a 4-3 either.

at least they've got a couple early draft picks to help them get who they need.

lol

Mike Smith has a defensive background, its his defense and he runs a 4-3. I don't think they plan on switch. Just read Nolan gives a mix of looks.
