Please Hurney, if you sign one guy, sign Brandon Carr.

Thoughts?

I would much prefer to address the cornerback position through free agency rather than through the draft (that is unless Claiborne drops to us).

IMO, with regard to playing corner, known quantity that you know can do the job in the NFL >>>>> unknown quantity almost every time.

My sense is that we will address the secondary by running more blitz packages and trying to get more pressure on the QB to make faster decisions rather than acquiring a high level FA. It's often difficult to fit successful CBs into new systems (ie Eagles) rather than training a new draftee from the beginning.

Signing big free agents goes against Hurney's philosophy. It is a basic rule that those of us who follow the front office over the past decade have witnessed time and time again. He has only had one huge "splash" year of signing big free agents, 2005 with Wahle & Lucas, and a moderate splash year in 2006 with Kemoeatu & Keyshawn and he has all but said those were mistakes when looking back. Stephen Davis is the only one he has accepted as being a good choice and that was almost 10 years ago now.

I think that we will go D-line in the draft with our first pick. Hurney will restructure Davis's contract, but we will keep him and give him a chance to play. Hogan was picked in the fourth round last year and hopefully is healthy and provide depth also pushing Captain for playing time. We did a great job last year picking up Olsen and Shockey giving us proven players. If we can do that again with a vet CB that can start, it will give us insurance to pick a later round CB that can develop. We also need an o-line player to replace 0tah or Hangman in the future.

can't wait to see brandon hogan and whatever cb we draft.

and, tampa will draft trent richardson. I'll put $1,000 on that.

I'll take that bet....but I doubt you can actually cover it.

Teams just do NOT value RB's the way they used to. I don't see Richardson going in the Top 10....same reason that Ingram fell all the way the the end of the 1st round.

I think it was rayzor who said it in another thread that Schiano's schemes really heavily on a do it all type RB. Blount is not that guy. Ray Rice, Arian Foster, etc. will all be retained by their current teams. Grimes will probably get franchised. Plus, and I could very well be wrong, but if TB has $60MM in cap room as some have said, don't they need to spend $$ to reach the new CBA floor? Albeit remote, it is possible we could get Claiborne.

hah, if I had $1,000 to bet with I'd take that bet.

Do you really need $1000 to win a free bet?

lol @ taking a running back in the top 10

LOL @ taking a running back in the top 10 over Morris Claiborne

Tampa Bay doesn't need the top running back in the draft. What they need to do is teach Blount how to block so that they don't have to take him out of every passing play. It's kinda hard getting some offense when the defense knows exactly what's gonna happen next.

Reggie Bush, McFadden, Ronnie Brown, CJ Spiller. All top 10 picks. 3 of them top five, and two were 2nd overall, picked over players that are arguably light years better than Claiborne. It can happen, and has.

    • You honestly think Tampa would have traded down with a division rival so their rival could land a “generational player” at a massive position of need for TB?   bruh
    • Ya'll better quit throwing shots at Zod. He'll come in here and ban everybody. I had a friend @prosource who was banned in 2015 because he said some very minor things about Zod being an ass to the posters on the main forum after starting the All-Pro one. He said he felt like another level is cool, but don't punch down on people that don't want All-Pro. (He did say that it wasn't going to last long anyways.🤔) I distinctly remember him calling and being like "dude, I got banned, my profile says I don't have access to the Huddle!") I feel like once Tepper came in and cut off all unofficial access to the team, Zod was going to be around less. The All-Pro board had really good photos, even in game stuff, and I remember seeing him behind a little fenced in area at Wofford for non team sanctioned press/photographers after Tepper bought the team. I knew then his ego wouldn't allow him to continue with past fervency and effort with that reduction in access. Dude was literally in the locker room when JR was owner.  I came over in 2011 immediately after finding out this place existed. I was super involved with the Charlotte forum, and fell off after its demise. I will never forget arguing Pep over Ryan Sims on that forum! Who is Ryan Sims some of you may ask? My answer is exactly!
    • And not see him running free. Because has been free a lot more than he gets credit for.    Now what XL does with that when he does see the ball, is on him.
