Claborne Pick May Depend On Where Richardson Lands

From the Tampa bay Times.

If the Browns choose Richardson our shot a Claborne will be in jeopardy or could we see a possible trade up between Tampa and the Vikings

"BATTLE OVER RICHARDSON? Talking to Schiano, it's clear he would welcome the addition of a running back such as Alabama's Trent Richardson. When a coach openly pines for a player prior to the draft, cynics suspect a smokescreen. But when you're talking about the No. 5 pick, there's not much intrigue.

"But more and more, it looks like the Browns, at No. 4, will take Richardson before the Bucs have a shot. Cleveland GM Tom Heckert and coach Pat Shurmur attended his workout at Alabama. Texas A&M QB Ryan Tannehill is possible if the Browns decide to give up on Colt McCoy. The Browns also have to consider Oklahoma State WR Justin Blackmon.

Richardson will visit and work out for the Browns and Bucs. More and more, it looks as if Tampa Bay will pick among Richardson, Blackmon, LSU CB Morris Claiborne and, if he gets past the Vikings at No. 3, USC tackle Matt Kalil."

i see this as the most likely scenario. browns drafting tannehill doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

The browns are in desperate need of a QB and are hell bent on getting one. Also its the Browns, they never make since.

We have ZERO shot at taking Claiborne at #9. And, it would be stupid to give up multiple picks to move up 5 spots to try and get him. Better off staying where we are than moving up.

So if he would get by Tampa I think we have a shot

Claiborne is out of the mix.... it would be ridiculous to trade up for him seeing that we have other needs we can fill at #9.

Don't make stupid statements like this. No one is out of the mix until they get drafted. Even Luck is not a lock for the 1 spot.

    • Best birthday present ever!
    • People were discussing the new backup QB in comparison the the starter.  Neither has anything close to a cannon.  Video was posted of them throwing.  If people can’t be free to express their opinions without being put on a list of posters who have ruined this place we have a bad situation here. People trying to silence  criticism of the QB.    Maybe actually post about the other players instead of about the other posters. That is where it went off the rails.
    • That's true and we're definitely going to hear more about it as summer progresses. But at the end of the day all of the progress we've made on the roster as a whole will only matter if our passing offense can emerge from the basement of the NFL. In 2023 it was 32 out of 32 in 2024 it was 30th out of 32 and last year it was 26th out of 32. And early in the season we relied heavily on a career year from Rico Dowdle who is no longer on the roster. This is only reinforced by the fact that we (depending on how one views it) effectively took playcalling out of Dave Canales hands and brought in another offensive mind. The elephant in the room isn't going anywhere no matter how much we may not like it.
