random thoughts from 49er fans on losing reggie smith...

Good bye and I won't miss you!

He sucks.

bout time that scrub is off the team

He was better at doing the dougie than playing football.

later loser!

Reggie Smith didn't contribute anything outside of a couple of special teams tackles. If Goldson or Whitner had to leave the game, it was guaranteed we were going to give up a passing TD because Reggie couldn't cover ****.

If a player has potential, I'm willing to be patient. But Smith has been put into situations where he could prove himself and contribute and he never does. He just looks average/below average.

He wasn't worth keeping, and apparently the coaching staff agrees with that. Good riddance.

so... supah bowlz?

derp and rolla sounds like he found his twins in the bay area. then there are these

Sad to see him go. This guy can be a play maker if he stays healthy, He had Goldson (a pro-bowler ) on the bench last year until he got hurt… good luck to him..

Sad to see him go he should start for carolina he made plays when he was on the field good luck reggie.

Really didn’t want to lose him but glad he ended up in Carolina. Always thought high of him and he always has shown promise. Best of luck Reggie!

I wish the Niners could’ve found a way to keep him…secondary is kinda deep now though. Solid special teams guy and has the tools to be a starting safety in the right system. And can lay a hat on someone coming over the middle as good as anyone. Good luck in Carolina Reggie!

This is a good pickup by Carolina. Smith has the talent to be a starting safety, but has been stuck behind two really good safeties on the 49ers. As a 49er fan, I was hoping he would return, but I understand that having a chance to compete for the starting spot would make Carolina pretty appealing. This looks like another good off season move by Carolina. They will clearly be a team to watch this season.

I’m a Niner fan and I’m sad to see him go. I wasn’t too worried about losing Dashon Goldson (pro-bowler) to free agency if it were to happen because I think Reggie would be able to come in and replace him decently. It will not surprise me at all if Smith goes on to become a very good, if not pro-bowl type player for the Panthers.

Reggie Smith was slated as the starter in training camp last offseason until he got injured. He never really fully recovered enough to take back his starting job after that.

Here's a link to some fans when the injury happened who actually showed concern and suppored Smith. Saying he was really good when he started for them: http://forums.49ers....t=117520&page=2

I like what pantherj said about the"Cam halo" effect. More like Cam Nirvana! Honestly speaking, i have been a frequent visiter to the huddle of the last several yrs. Poking my head in to read the latest thread and laugh at the senior members bash the newbies or whoever. When we drafted Cam i felt something bigger and brighter was instore. His rookie.season went as i had anticipated...The King has arrived! So yes i think im a little overly excited about mid level moves but when you have Cam its not "adding" players its building a championship team. My excitement has forced me to be a troll amongst you all. No seriously, i have so much pent up fan rage/volcanic excitement that i would only be considered normal here in carolina forums.

I agree. with the new players we've signed and the new DB coach to help them improve... I'm not say'n they will all be elite anything... but, I think there will be a much improved secondary in general this season, and that will be huge!

I like it!

Agreed there was a lot wrong with our secondary last year and coaching had to have something to do with that.
