Marty Hurney Apparently Lied About Fletcher Cox

I pulled it from this site which tracks these things:

http://www.cfbstats....se/gamelog.html

So you found 30 and in the last 3 games they said he had 1. Maybe we need to go back to your thread where you diagnosed every play. Your credibility just took a huge hit.

Riiighht.. I can show every play in which Cox had a hurry. I documented every play in an excel spreadsheet. Not sure why I would lie about Cox's stats when clearly I said Brockers was the better player after the first video.. doesn't make any sense.

Who is riled up?? If you know me at all, you know I don't take any of this seriously. This is just the first time I can remember in a long time that when an official stat was pulled up in an argument, other posters showed youtube highlights and came up with different numbers and asserted there's were more accurate. I find that a bit ridiculous, that all.

The term 'hurry' is subjective.. but the video shows that Cox broke through the line about 10 times per game and forced an early throw or scared him out of the pocket. He had several impact plays throughout the game, not just '1'. That can not be denied. Whether your website called it an impact play or not, the fact remains, that Cox was more effective and productive than your number dictates.

Exactly what didn't impress you?

The non stop motor.

Getting into the back field alot.

What exactly?

By the way it's McClain.

I would rather draft Jaye Howard over Cox, Jaye Howard a 6th rounder..

And the DT we need in the mliddle, look at this video Jaye stay focused on the RB and the QB he did 2 mistakes but otherwise its rather impressive.

Btw highlights videos mean nothing.

Again maybe you need to revise your definition of a hurry to be in line with the definition of a hurry by NCAA standards. If you do so then you would find that what you define as a hurry is not the case. This wasn't an issue of who is better simply comparing your own observations to an objective standard so that everyone is measuring the same thing the same way. Unless you want to create your own category and definition.

The term hurry is precisely defined by cfbstats.com which is the official counter of hurries. If you want to create your own then you can do it however you want. But for example if the pass is completed then by their definition it isn't a hurry since the point of a hurry is to negate the play. If the play is completed then the defender being in the area didn't disrupt the play. This wasn't my number this is the official number kept by the NCAA to measure hurries. You seem to be the one that is creating your own definition to suit your purposes. Perhaps if you had pointed out that you created your own definition and applied your own unofficial standards then we could have avoided the whole disagreement. I apparently wrongly assumed we were measuring things according to the NCAA rules for doing so.

    • To kick this up, The Athletic has a really comprehensive piece out where pretty much all QB questions are addressed. It is worth seeing.  https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7083539/2026/03/04/starting-quarterback-projections-free-agency-draft/?source=user_shared_article I’m putting something specific here but it should have a thread or something. It is an extensive exercise.  This is a dense write up with a lot of column inches used, about the Jets and Murray and Reich, all this stuff.. then it goes to backup QB and there is Dalton.  I am pasting that part: As for Dalton, Reich is installing the offense he was trying to run in Carolina in 2023 before he got fired, and Dalton was with the Panthers then; he’s an ideal option as a veteran backup to replace Taylor. Reich said this about Dalton in 2023: “The way he's throwing the football, the way he works through progressions, the way he handles the operation. … Since day one (when) he walked in the door, I'm like, 'This guy is starter-worthy.' You guys know I've said that all along. He's, in my opinion, one of the best 32 quarterbacks in the world.” ——— That’s true love lol. I never heard any of this. Pretty crazy I think, considering how the year went.   Anyway the dream is not dead. .
    • The Seahawks traded for wide receiver/returner Rashid Shaheed at the trade deadline. He proved to be a key acquisition. Shaheed returned a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in the regular season and had a 95-yard kickoff return in the postseason. Shaheed, though, is scheduled for free agency. So, the 12 games he played, including the postseason, might be the extent of his time in Seattle. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Shaheed and the Seahawks are not close to an extension, and the expectation is that the two-time Pro Bowler will hit free agency. Shaheed has 153 receptions for 2,243 yards and 12 touchdowns in his four-year career to go along with three punt return touchdowns and a kickoff return touchdown. He ranks 13th on PFT’s top-100 free agents. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/report-rashid-shaheed-appears-headed-to-free-agency
