Do you have vacation acrewed? If so take it and don't look back. I went off contract and full time in March and told them that I was going to be gone in may for 15 days with the wedding and honeymoon. I wasn't going to have enough days built up so I gave them the headsup

Instead of an out right week how about a long wkd? Take a Fri and a Mon and ease into the groove. It's amazing how petty and immature your co workers can be and make something like taking a week off so early a bigger deal then it needs to be.

But like some said, give your mgr's a heads up and also see how it goes with accruing time off. Some places are like factories and don't care and others go out of their way for you to take time off.

You bring up an interesting point.

Perhaps I should have providied more information as well.

I normally have Sundays and Mondays off. I am in the Army Reserves and I have a Reserve obligation on the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of the week I am wanting to have off.

So it would look like this: Sunday (normal day off) Monday (normal day off) Tuesday (vacation day) Wednesday (vacation day) Thursday (vacation day) Friday-Sunday (Reserve obligation) Monday (normal day off).

So pretty much trying to take vacation in conjuction with Army Reserve obligation. In all actuallity, I would only be asking for three days off.

Would it work better with the information I provided?

good rule of thumb is work it out up front when you accept your offer if you want to go on vacation within the first six months. Otherwise, don't take the time.

Did this when I started my current job. Told them upfront I had a trip planned.

So by my 6 month rule, I wouldn't take vacation until after halloween. (counting your training time)
