I saw it this past weekend so thought I'd make the bump

I'm not the type that does the whole rating thing but thought the movie was top notch from a cinematic, tone, and music side of things....and it just makes you keep thinking about it. I thought it was very well done and would recommend it to any film buff.

There were bits that felt like Equilibrium, Blade Runner, and some segments even felt like a goofy British comedy. Just a unique fun, engaging, and trippy flick.

Anyone catch it yet?

Just watched this today, excellent movie, a 10/10 straight up. best thing I've seen this year(I know it came out last year).

And I know this is a extreme bump but the Movie was just good enough that I thought it might use a bump.

I've had this saved on my DVR for months. Problem is that it's nearly impossible to get my wife to pay attention for a 90 minute film, much less one that is nearly 3 hours long. I'll probably have to go solo on this one when she's out of town or something...Regardless, glad to know some have really enjoyed it. I almost deleted it the other day.

I do this all the time. The entire "Time of Death" Showtime series, Mob City, Justified... and those are all 1-hour series! A few movies I DVR knowing she'll never watch them, "The Master" and "Lawless"...

first movie in a long time that i had to Punt because it was just too much to follow..

it was on my DVR forever so i gave it a shot and couldnt hang

I appreciate the grand scope of what was trying to be accomplished and it was interesting. The coherence was lacking and I must have been too distracted at the need to have the same actors in horrible make up as other characters in the intertwIning stories. I understand why each actor was playing the timelined characters that are related but seeing a British dude try to look like an asian or Mr.Smith from the Matrix as a giant woman just made it a bit hard to watch.

The move is structured and paced as if I was to explain to someone the plots of The Red Violin, Blade Runner, The Matrix, Conan The Barbarian, Silkwood, Amistad and the Clumps(Eddie Murphy playing multiple characters) on 10 hits of acid. Or so I think it would sound like that as I have only heard second hand how Acid gives you a short attention span where you think you are spouting brilliant monolouges but saying incoherent babble. ...so I have heard.

you have add don't you? I've only watched it once, broke in two halves when watching it though and felt like I understood exactly what was going on throughout the movie, I know you may not like some of the character makeup for different characters but I felt like I understood it all the way they had to do that as well for the story.

I do have ADD...but I can follow Inception or Memento with ease. I think I just did not care to follow some of the stories..so when it came back to something I was interested in I just kinda checked out.

It reminded me of another epic type movie by Darrin Arnofsky: The Fountain

Both are interesting movies that I think miss the mark a bit but I love the idea and effort.

I saw this movie when it first came out and I was trying to kill some time.  I knew absolutely nothing about it other than the fact that Tom Hanks played six different characters and had a weird tattoo on his face.  I had no idea what I was about to experience.  At the forty-five minute mark I was ready to give up.  Nothing made any sense and I was bored.  By the end of the movie it was one of the three greatest movie going experiences of my life and one that I had to repeat.  It is very rare that a movie can completely suck me in the way it did.  I own the BluRay and have seen the film 12-15 times now, and I still pick up on things that I did not notice in the past.

I am a pretty big film fan and have easily seen 2000 films over the course of my life (although admittedly there are some stretches from the past where I am missing some of the good ones).  This is in my all-time Top 10, and in my opinion is the second greatest film made in my lifetime.  I have been very disappoint in film over the past dozen years and for the most part have accepted that TV is the place to go for greatest at the moment.  Most in Hollywood are too scared to take the chances necessary to accomplish something great.  Cloud Atlas proved that is was still possible however.  I love everything about it and actually will catch myself humming the score from time to time.  This is without a doubt a film that stays with you (at least it did for me), and I wish more people would/will give it a chance.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
