No its the opposite. The top half are pretty much ones guaranteed to get cut imo. Then then bubble players are on the cusp.

If I thought all those players are going to make it I would ban myself.

Just for clarity heres my most likely to make it (49) total

TE(3)

1.Olsen

2.Barnidge

3.Brockel(can double as backup FB)

The TE group looks a little weak. Cant believe we didnt get Shockey back...

too many players on DL and not enough WRs.

we'll go with probably 8 WRs on the 53 and only about 7 DL...at the most 8. i'd also cut another off the secondary as well.

With Neblett out the first four games, I don't see us carrying only 7 DL. That would only leave two back-ups.

I bet we carry at least 8.

If you look at my 2nd post in the thread where I listed most likely to make it, I only put 49 players down. So theres room to add 4 more, I'm just not sure which 4 make it yet.

I could see them keeping both Brockel and Hartsock. Brockel has versatility in playing both FB and TE, and Hartsock is a good blocking TE. I think the Panthers are going to run a lot of sets with 2 TE's or a TE/FB combo.

I really want to see what Barnidge can do in the preseason. He was underutilized with Fox and was suppossedly having a good camp last year before he got hurt. He has some speed and has made some good catches this year from what I have read, but we need another receiving threat at TE besides Olsen.

I am excited about seeing how the WR battle shakes out. Hurney mentioned the possibility several times during his interview of keeping 7 guys. I think Smitty, LaFell, Murphy, Pilares, and Adams are locks, and think the idea of keeping 7 includes keeping Gettis and Tutu. I do believe them when they say Armanti has had a good camp, but I think he would be 8 on the list and there's no way he's making it over guys like Pilares and Tutu who are gunners on ST and he doesn't have the receiving ability of Gettis or Murphy.

I also hope Norman and Hogan can both contribute on CB beyond just one of them winning the starting job so that Munnerlyn can return to being the backup PR. I hope Adams can be above average, but Munnerlyn wasn't bad and certainly better than Armanti.

Last thing, I'm really hoping to see some flashes out of Frank Alexander in the preseason. For the people dogging Hardy (and he certainly hasn't made the best decisions off-the-field though nothing majorly wrong), but Hardy to me is a very good option at #3 DE, and he could be a decent #2 DE. It's just been a while since the Panthers had a DE rotation of 3 guys that could consistently get to the QB. Really since 2008 when we had Peppers/ Brayton starting and CJ as the 3rd guy. It would be awesome to see Hardy take a step to be a solid #2 and Alexander (or Applewhite/ Keiser who both showed some flashes) to be that 3rd guy

Me too. We traded next years third for him, so I'd like to have some indication thats it worth it.

I think they will keep Brockel, but not Hartsock. I think you have to cut Armanti. He's just taking up space at this point. His journey is at an end. Maybe he'll get picked up by another team.

I'm glad to see Nakamura has already surpassed Martin. That makes me feel better about the secondary. Still hoping Norman can win the CB2 spot. Hogan as the backup, Munn as the nickel. Butler will probably still make the team as well. Alexander and Chandler are poised to surprise and I wouldn't mind seeing them surpass Hardy.

I'd love to see us get some value for Clausen. If they can't they'll probably keep him.

I'm still pulling for Gettis.

    • I have been looking for a dropped pass list and all that comes up is QBs. And team stats. When I do receivers I get the passing stats for a handful that threw passes this year.    I wanted to be accurate but anyhow I was looking because thought I remembered reading where T Mac had more drops than XL this year.  One of you many smarter than me people here,I would appreciate it if you know how to pull that up, please do. Thank you.    And yeah I know that isn’t all there is to it I just thought it was interesting.  Of course what the hell is a drop lol.
    • I agree with this and I think it's worth mentioning too that Bryce is not consistent on his placement and especially velocity and that in large part is driven by his footwork. We all know XL doesn't have the best hands and I don't know that he can overcome that. Cam always had the heater that just hit your hands and sank into your grip, where Bryce has some that are harder thrown, some soft. Bryce stepping into a pass looks so much different than that hop throw thing he does. I think XL really needs to hit the jugs machine and start learning how to catch all these different touch passes. TMac and Coker don't have these issues. If XL doesn't get some work in he's going to be out of the league in the next couple of years.
    • I think most people like XL from a personal standpoint. I don't think he's stupid either. Although if we are being realistic he is lacking in football IQ at this point in time and it cannot be disputed that he has not taken working on his craft seriously at all times given the body of work on the field. It speaks for itself. I myself have defended him at times given the circumstances of our QB room. But he is now in his third year and 25 years old. We are not in a position as a franchise to go around babying anyone especially first round draft picks. He needs to take his position and his football career seriously or he is going to end up selling used cars somewhere. I hope he realizes this and takes an extended break from social media because that mess certainly isn't going to increase his net worth if he ends up out of the league. And these hanger on types will disappear quick too once that money dries up and it surely will eventually. We'll see how he responds.
