How can we improve our pass rush?

The answer is we already have.

Have a full offseason to install our Defense...check

Have our full arsenal on D healthy...check

Improve our run D to eliminate 3rd and shorts and reduce the playaction effectiveness...check

Find a competent corner to play the outside with an improved free safety to provide help over the top...check

Have the personnel to line up in multiple formations to confuse offenses...check

Finding a new situational pass rusher(Alexander) to ensure Norwood never sees the field/waste a roster spot again..check

So will be improved, yes. How much? Well thats still to be determined, but there is reason for optimism.

So you think Hardy is actually good against the run?? If I recall correctly he struggled setting the edge last season.

Hardy did have that struggle last year some, but dude was referring to other guys suggestion to put hardy at DT, that would definitely weaken the run defense.

Not from what I have seen.Alexander had a sack against a 2nd team OT.

We barely ran any blitzes (for a team thats supposed to be blitz heavy)and ran a soft zone. Ww will not know how the D. will truely look til regular season. As far as cap space to bring in another D-lineman? Idk how much money we have, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

I'd like to think McDermott's playcalling will ramp up a couple of levels during the regular season. We got no pressure against the Jets when we relied only on the 4 up front. This team needs to blitz and stunt a lot more, with press coverage in the secondary. This defense has a lot of speed. We need to use it. I think McClain would be considerably better stunting than trying to bull rush up the middle.

Btw, the Jets confused the hell out of Amini with their stunts.

    • Oh I was.  But we still had great players.
    • You keep AT unless he WANTS to get traded to a contender during the season.  He's valuable, TET, XL, and Coker need to learn how to be PROFESSIONALS on game day, practice, and the off-season.  That's what you get from AT.  ADDITIONALLY, he is clutch.  He is steady.  At is that savvy vet who will always flash. I really think they keep 7 WR's if Brycen can operate on special teams.  Week 1 you may see us heavy on WR and OL because of the massive amount of injuries across the league.  Renfrow may even be cool starting on the PS since he lives close and wouldn't need to uproot his family.  You can still make nearly 400K as a vested veteran on an NFL practice squad.  You see more veterans hanging around since the age limit was lifted. I think the 1st 53 and PS looks like so...... Offense: (25) QB (2) Young / Dalton RB (3) Chuba/Rico/Etienee WR (7) T-Mac/XL/AT/Coaker/Renfrow/JHjr/Brycen TE (3) Tremble/Sanders/Evans OL (10) Icky/Lewis/Corbett/Hunt/Moten/Brady/Mayes/Yosh/Zavala/Kingston Defense: (25) DL: (6) Brown/Robinson/Turk/Bobby B/Cam Jackson/Sam Roberts OLB: (5) Wonnom/PJ2/NicSic/Princely/Incoon ILB: (5) Rozeboom/TW/Windmon/Cherelus/Bam CB: (5) Horn/MJ/CSW/Thorton/Evans S: (4) Tre'Mo/Ransom/Demani/Scott Specialists: (3) JJ/Fitz/Martin Last spot: Right now I have it as a toss up between DJ Johnson and Bam.  Until NicSic can come back we need an extra edge.  Do we utilize TW more as a blitzer from the middle to keep Bam safe?  I'm not worried about DJJ getting picked up from another team, a little more concerned with Bam. Practice Squad: DavidMoore/JamesMitchell/JacolbyGeorge/Tuttle/Crumdley/Ray/DJJohnson/Kantra/Carter/Blacksheer/ Wright/KrysBarnes/MichaelReid/Safety pick up/RB pick up/QB pick up
