Williams flat out doesn't fit

If that's truly the case, then shouldn't we have practiced a few pro offensive plays to fall back on just in case the key cog to the Mickey Mouse offense is injured?

This brilliant offense that got us 6 wins last year and managed to win Denver 8?

I don't know about you, but I was kind of jealous watching Denver run a pro offense last night.

To be honest, I was jealous watching, Pittsburgh, Green Bay, and San Fran also.

Do we really not have the personel to run a big boy offense or does Cam really still need the training wheels? He seems to throw a good ball, to me.

There has to be some middle ground between Foxball and this corny three ring circus we're seeing now.

Good post. I was hoping to see more pro style this year with the spread as more of a wrinkle, not the other way around. I think Cam is capable of running more a pro style and us trying to get all cute didn't work well yesterday. Again, that oline was awful, not much was going to work yesterday as far as the run game is concerned. Around week 6 or 7 though, as typical Panthers nature, the oline will finally get in the games.

we cant get the run game going when they blitz every play, most of the runs were shotgun draws or counters that take a couple seconds to develop

Even I know how to counter when the dline penetrates and blitzes....and I was sitting there with wing sauce on my shirt

It doesn't matter what scheme you run, if there is no blocking there is no run game period. Rewatch the game. Tampa was in the backfield all game. We couldn't even double team properly. It was a complete line breakdown in all aspects.

Let me reiterate, WE COULDN'T BLOCK ANYONE!!!!. McCoy looked like a young Warren Sapp. Linebackers came through free on most possessions. When we blocked well, we got good results. When the blocking failed, the play usually failed.

WE COULD NOT BLOCK TAMPA!!!!

WE CALLED A REALLY INEFFICIENT GAME!!!!

Williams fit! Blame the stupid coaching game plan.

No damn running back on this Earth is going to ever suceed run standing in the backfiekd for 5 seconds holding hands with Cam.

The offense did it all year last season. RGIII did it all day long agaisnt NO. But you gotta have the RB that can take it between the tackles and force the DL out of blindly pass rushing.

But I fully agree the coaches were to blame....Williams should of fit the gameplan and we should of walked out of there with a win. if we had a Williams suited offense....I think we outscore Tampa.

You do realize that Protection schemes and Offensive schemes are literally one in the same thing right?

This thread is spot on.

Williams doesn't fit into this scheme. Stewart fits perfectly (similar style to Oregon's playbook).

I can't for the life of me understand why Cam wasn't under center more yesterday handing it off to Deangelo, using play action, or bootlegging out of the pocket.

We were way too predictable out of shotgun yesterday.

I wonder if DeAngelo reads this crap? As active as he is with social media, you'd have to think he browses this forum. He is an elite running back. We played ASLEEP yesterday and our O-Line absolutely sucked balls. DeAngelo Williams is NOT the problem... the day that a 5.0 yards per carry back is a problem, Jimmy Clausen will win Super Bowl MVP.

Oh no Stewart doesn't fit. Tolbert fits perfectly (he's from SD).....

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
