Its Falcons week....

When I watched the Falcons - Broncos on MNF last week, what I noticed play after play is that Matt Ryan doesn't stand in the pocket. He has quick reads every pass play. Even on the play action when his back is to the WR's, as soon as he pulls that ball back in, he is turning and firing almost in one motion to the spot where he knows his WR will be.

Maybe this is to offset his supposed weak arm for the deep ball, but a defense without a pass rush against a dink and dunk style passing attack with slants and short crossing routes, it feels like we could run into the same buzz saw as last Thursday night.

I would be interested to know what our defensive game plan will focus on.

We have a run TON of intermediate routes which is Ryans strength. We've been taking probably 3-4 shots downfield a game. We are weak against the run so far. I expect to see a lot of running by Carolina.

i'm not sure what we could do to stop that really.

we'd probably be better off just trying to play coverage with a four man rush/a bunch of nickle looks and crossing our fingers that we can pick up some sacks by forcing ryan to hold on to the ball rather than trying to blitz. maybe try dropping our LBs in shallow zones to make things too busy between the sticks and disrupt the short passing game.

there's so many ways they can hurt us on offense that we'd almost need them to beat themselves really.

The Panthers have to play a perfect game next Sunday to get a win and win the turnover battle.

Atlanta, under Mike Smith and Matt Ryan, have been Dominant in that dome. (and now, with a 2-0 road record, it looks like they may have something figured out outside the dome as well)

    • I think where they would be picked if redrafted before both classes have played enough football to really tell.  Baker literally looked like a washout with us after Cleveland gave up on him, then turned world beater with the Rams, got a prove it deal with the Bucs and has looked awesome ever since. Asking where Ward would’ve went had he went in ‘24 is just stupid.  I’m no GM, but I wouldn’t have taken Williams #1 either.  I would’ve taken Joe Milton way higher than he went.  I think Shadeur should’ve been a first round pick this year.  Point being, opinions are like buttholes, everybody has one.  It’s my opinion that Ward has that “something special.”  I get that feeling that he’ll be an even better pro than he was a collegiate QB because of whatever that quality is.  I think he’s gonna surprise a lot of people, especially being such an under appreciated first overall pick.
    • Where do we get our T-shirts and hats? Pretty sure this is the first championship ever in professional basketball or football in Charlotte!
    • Nice turnaround for Kon.  I’m still a little worried about his ability to create for himself and others, but it was SL.  Come regular season, he will playing a much different role and shots will be there for him.  He showed some reason for hope - and not just him, but the whole squad.  I suppose for the first time ever, we have drafted and acquired enough young talent that we actually not only competed for once, but won the whole thing in summer league.     Kon, Simpson, and Sims made all the difference.  Almost every year prior I felt we always struggled because we usually didn’t have a floor general/real PG to get us into offense.  This was such a breath of fresh air.  And look at us!  We finally are champions!😂
