So what is the simplest thing we can do?

Everyne thinks the team ( if you have to ask which one you are in the wrong place) has issues. Rather than sit here and expect a whole slew of improvements what is 1 thing (just 1) that you would like to see.

For me its an O line that isnt pretending to be water.

i'll take the easy way out...fix the trenches.

on defense apply pressure. on offense withstand it.

2nd choice...

on defense stop playing it safe and gamble/take risks. go for the big play. focus on creating turnovers and blitzing the QB.

on offense go a bit back to basics turning to a power run game and try to go for the big play downfield with 3-4 receivers (including TE) going out every play. let cam take advantage of opportunities the defense gives him as far as running the ball himself and let the option play be optional...meaning let it be something done not very often.

I'd say pass Rush. That will cure a lot issues. Like the secondary, mainly the safeties being caught with their pants down.

I'm pissed at CJ, I realize he's being double teamed but man he's had some opportunities to get sacks and he hasn't. I realize FF are great and even Pass Deflections but that won't strike fear into the O line or QB you face. Putting their guy down on a constant basis will.

With that in mind, kuddos to all the guys that have a sack that aren't CJ.

I hear a lot of talk about change the culture. How about have some passion? Veterans need have more passion. Smith has it. Why doesn't Beason have it? TD has it after a big play, how about other times? I miss the personalities back when we had the lb corp of Greene, Lathon, and Mills. Those guys played with passion. Heck, in the playoff game in which we murdered Dallas. Greene and Lathon almost accidentally knocked each other out they played with so much passion...

I don't know how you can watch the Giants game and think the pass rush needs to improve. Eli was picking our coverage apart because of the giant holes we left in the zone not because our defenders couldn't hit him in time. When the coverage is so passive and weak that you can't make Eli have to think where to pass and they only give the D-line 1 second to get their hands on the quarterback, you don't blame the pass rush.

We played so soft and predictable in coverage that Eli already knew where he was going to throw the ball during pre-snap reads. He looked to the right and saw Gamble 10 yards off the receiver. He looked to the left and saw our 5th round rookie CB being left alone on an island. He looked straight ahead and saw Nakamura talking to fans near the endzone. Our defensive line isn't elite, but we asked for too much from them by playing soft-ass zone all night.

    • Today, we are all Kucci... I miss our feral Russian attack goalie!
    • That was a good segment. Watched every minute of it and would highly recommend it to all fans.
    • "So much of what the Panthers are going to do next week isn't dictated by their preference, but by what happens above them. That's another benefit of not getting locked into need. For instance, if you're thinking you want a receiver, seeing five or six of them go off the board and reacting by taking the sixth or seventh off your list instead of the first (or second or third) something else isn't necessarily wise." https://www.panthers.com/news/ask-the-old-guy-back-into-the-weeds-of-the-nfl-draft-bryce-young-charlotte-hornets-mock-draft This is what some don't seem to get, I don't care how many times it is said: You're NOT going to draft an inferior person at one position, just because that position is perceived as, or is in fact, a bigger need. That would basically nullify, or at least lessen, the reason why you set yourself up via free agency to be able to take the BPA/BAP on the board in the first place.  Yes, the process is complex, very much involved and ongoing, but the overall philosophy is not rocket science. You set yourself up in order not to be pigeonholed into taking a lower graded player at the expense of a higher graded one. This is why Morgan, Gantt and countless of others say the same thing. This is why it's just nonsensical to set yourself in a position where you don't have to, but then act like you have to come hell or high water: "Oh, we have to draft [whatever position], and we can't draft [this position]."  I'm good with whatever they do, until proven otherwise, but even then, you have to be mature enough to know that drafting is an imperfect exercise, filled with hits and misses. And, you generally don't know if you've hit, and especially missed, right away. Moreover, like I've said before, sometimes two players--different positions or not--can both be hits on their respective teams, so in that sense, it's not purely about a right or wrong pick as much as it's about putting puzzle pieces together at the time the best way that you know how.  At the end of the day, people are going to believe what they want to believe, but one thing that's true is that what the Panthers do regarding the draft is dependent upon what others do, and what others do can and does change things. That being the case, it's just another reason why you can't go in with tunnel vision. The thought of doing that is preposterous.
