Rivera: Too Early for Personnel Changes on Defense

Naka is no better than the bum Sean Considine who didn't even make it out of the preseason with us last year. Whiffed on tackles, always out of position, couldn't cover, same poo.

I guess because he backed up the amazing Ed Reed and was a part of the vaunted Baltimore Ravens, he was given more creedence. The proof is on the field - he can't hack it. Next up.

There is no way in hell that Nakamura starts next week. No way in hell.

let's fuging hope not.

he shouldn't see the field at all, not even special teams. he's a liability in every sense of the word.

he should be released and never thought of ever again.

The true tragedy in all of this is that we are calling for Martin to start.

That sad truth showcases just how bad we are at the position.

I mean he struggled last season and still needs to improve on his tackling, but I never thought he shouldn't be the starter... considering his competition

Put it this way, if you toss the ball all the way up and he's there. He'll either pick it or bat it down

I think they were too quick to throw him in the doghouse. Yeah, he played like poo in 2011....but so did others.

I have always maintained his play in 2009 when Godfrey was hurt, that window of play was the last time we saw actual FS play in Carolina. He has the talent. Your FS doesn't need to be a stud tackler if you use him as a real FS......and LBs are letting everything get by them that shouldn't.

never understood why Godfrey to date still gets start after start.....and Martin was thrown to the bench. a contradiction there....

Well Martin is quick and athletic. His tackling was just atrocious though.

Perhaps he is better, or perhaps he will get better, we will find out shortly IMO.

All we can do is hope he is going to play well honestly.

I can't remember the last time this team used Safeties correctly, or drafted them correctly for that matter.

    • Not in same league. Caldwell just hit a 10.00 on the RAS. 2nd out of 3830 from 1987 onward.  https://x.com/MathBomb/status/2027885023387349047 Yeah I mean Louis had a sub 9.00 RAS. Still very very good, no doubt. Louis is small, no 2 ways about it. He is likely a sub package lb in nickel packages or specialized WLB. Be fine ST gunner to start for sure. 6 foot flat and 220lb is pushing it for a starting LB. At 10 to 20lbs less than the other LBs he'd better be closer to the top in most timed drills. He's gonna be challenged when some of the wrs in the class can matchup bigger stronger faster, much less TE in the run game.  Yeah instinct matter and he has them, but that size is a massive red flag compared to many of the other LBS in this class.    Rodriguez is the LB that really climbed this week from a pure grit guy to great flash with athleticism people wrote off cause he was a QB at first at UVA. 18.4mph in the backpedal. Production the last 2 years were great. I'd be thrilled with him as the future mike.   Hill likely moved out of 51 and into the top 45 picks ( Ravens at 45 I can't imagine don't bite if he makes it there). Honestly Hill imo is a 1st rounder and I'd be ok with him as he fits the MLB we have missed the last few years. People would crow it's a reach but he's top 30 all-time I'm RAS for a LB at 9.9+ . Plus he was big time in big games when he was healthy. And that br a big check: meds.
    • Miller, Melo, Coby, Moose, and Bridges all on the floor at the same time must be a nightmare for defenses lol. Switch one out for Kon and still a nightmare. Coby really does bring a true 6th man value and looks like he could start if Melo was out after only a few games of getting his feet wet.
