College offense is going to kill Cam's career....

Treating Cam like an idiot and not progressing him into a pro style offense is going to ruin his career.

1) He is capable of grasping a pro offense. Its obvious he is a bright guy. Not taking away his security blanket of this college scheme will not force him to grow. Lets face it, he is already taking his lumps as a pro QB, the bad news is he isn't learning how to be an NFL QB in the process. If he is going to struggle, I would prefer he struggle and learn while in a pro system.

2) He is going to get hurt. Those shots he is taking every week are no joke. They don't just go away either. Week after week they add up and increase the chance for a serious injury. They wear you down.

At this point where the entire NFL has figured out how to stop the gimmick college offense that was successful last season, what is the point in sticking to it?

It's as if long-term planning for his success and maturation to a pro style was sacrificed for the "must win now" instant gratification of trickery and scheme that took the NFL by surprise last season but has already passed it's expiration date.

You're dead on.

I agree. I just wonder why(hindsight is 20/20 I realize) we didnt re-sign Shockey or go after another good TE. Olsen and Shockey were the security blankets last year, and Olsen is having a decent season, but I dont recall having this college offense much at all last season. Several things are going wrong this season, but I agree with Zod. Chud needs to take this bye week and do some adjusting. Teams know what we are trying to do now.

These threads only pop up and only have credibility after a bad game like yesterday. Start this thread topic after we roll up 28 or 35 points. This gimmick offense didn't go 5-20 through 3 quarters yesterday the player did.

We score like that on crap to mediocre defenses, we play a legit one and we get what you saw.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
