Do we keep McDermott...

The defense has improved a great deal this year despite key injuries.

Over the past 5 weeks they are a top 10 defense.

Do we want to completely break up that scheme and unit and risk having an awful defense again?

If we keep McDermott would that help keep some continuity on the defense?

Id rather keep RR - I think hes the brain behind this D

Seriously - our D sucked last year with R s hands off approach - how good was mcderp in philly?

i'm torn between keeping him around and continuing the rapport he's developed with his defense vs. flushing the entire regime out and starting over. rivera and chud are clearly poison.

how much of the defense is actually run by mcdermott anyway? it seems like it was sort of implied that rivera took some control over it around the time we saw a sizable improvement. either way as touched on previously i think it's pretty much moot as a new GM is going to insist on his own guys.

How many games has our defense won for us? Who are the stars on this D?

Improvement from last year isnt saying much. We went from being doormats to solid occassionaly now we're the 85 bears?

They are playing like a top 10 defense currently.

Considering how long they have been on the field this year, one could argue they are the reason the Panthers have been in any games at all. Hell, the offense and special teams allowed nearly as many points as they did yesterday.

Why do you have it in for the defense? Aren't you happy they look like a legit NFL unit, unlike the offense?

    • After watching Dan for 3 yrs now, I think I understand his plan. It’s a simple plan that should work for the long run.     I saw some of this last yr. Dan wants a vet and a young player at each position. I really think we go OT if one they like there. Moton is aging, Icky will not be back until 27, if ever. We need to get ahead of the tackle problem
    • You are just stressing too much about these particular positions. You want to upgrade from Bryce and I understand that but you aren’t going to really get that without getting into a bidding war for a QB2 potential QB1 like Willis. You could possibly trade for Mills or the backup for Chicago but they are still gambles and their teams will won’t decent picks.  Again the Eagles thought KP was a capable enough backup to trade for him once their backup was hurt and won a Super Bowl with him as QB2. The point is most teams aren’t rolling with some stud QB2/3 that is going to push even a bottom tier starter. They are better off the building their roster in other areas. The Rams are rolling with Bennett right now as QB2 for example.  The goal is winning absolutely. We overachieved last year even with stumbling into the playoffs. Another year and this staff needs to take the next step in building a team. Will Grier has little to no impact on that….
    • Three straight first round WRs is straight up Matt Millen poo. Considering the draft capital we have tied up on Bryce after that trade we would basically have spent damn near all of our draft capital in recent years on QB and WR just to put one of the most anemic passing offenses in the league on the field. Clown show poo.
