Saintsreport cracks me up.

What is also funny is that i went back and forth in the off season debating that the Saints defense would suck this year and that Spags was not the great defensive mind he was reported to be. I also said they would finish last in the division and that losing Payton would be a huge blow to the team.

Seems I was right on all counts.

*Panthers drop 993 yards on Saints, sweep them in the division, worst defense in history*

"but but we didn't have our offensive genius!"

lolllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

Before the 2012 Saints established themselves as the worst defense in the history of the NFL during the last week of the season, the 1981 Baltimore Colts held the record for giving up 6793 yards.

Did you know that Joe Vitt, New Orleans Saints current interim head coach, was also a defensive coach for those same Baltimore Colts in 1981?

I did not and that's hilarious.

    • I wonder if they'd consider trading Rasheed Walker to a team that needs tackle help but missed out in the draft?
    • LOL. This is such a Panthers fan take.  Anyone who falls to us must suck because some other team didn't take them before.  We got lucky with Lemon, Thieneman, and Freeling all falling to us (honestly any of the three is a A+) but the WR and S positions are much deeper than the LT position in this draft.  We got the LT w/ the most upside at 19.  Mauigoa played RT in college and some think he is a guard in the nfl.  Spano played RT in college and some think he is a guard in the NFL due to short arms.  Blake Miller played RT in college and is not as good as Freeling.  Proctor is a true LT but his ability to handle quick edge's worries me (see Icky).  Freeling is a true LT and a gifted pass protector.  Many think he has a very high ceiling and will benefit from not having to start right away.  This is how you build a franchise.
    • After watching Cam get killed for years behind a bad Oline and having to watch the 2021 and 2023 Olines I will never complain about this team putting resources into that spot.  We got a true LT who could really push Rasheed Walker for the day 1 job. Go back and watch Iceky's draft profile from 2022 and all the talk was Ickey would be an all-pro guard in a zone blocking scheme, but he could play LT in a gap power run scheme. That's why Ickey looked really good when Wilks took over and we just started running gap run plays and just mauled people up front but under Canales we've been more of a zone running team. Ickey can survive at LT with his pass blocking but his true strength will always be his ability to just move guys in the run game and that's a skill set that's better used at guard.  Take another OT later on day 3 to learn from Moton to take over RT in a couple of years and let Walker and Freeling battle it out for the day 1 LT job then next offseason trade one of Hunt of Lewis and let Ickey move inside to guard.
