D-will and Munnerlyn can't wait to see what's going to happen to them

I will hate to see Dwill go. I really like his game a lot.

the only positive thing is that I won't have to hear my father in law talk about his hair anymore.

--of course then he will just talk about somebody else's long hair so

there is no upside here.. Give the guy a deal we can afford and hope like hell he takes it.

Captain is definitely safe! Ron LOVES him... Has said and I quote "amunnerlynisone of the best slot corners in the League"

They'll find a way to keep him

Williams will get the opportunity to restructure, and I think he will... If not then the only reason he's not here, is because he doesn't want to be

They'll both be back. At the very least, we'll do all we can to keep Cap I think, and we'll see what we can do with D-Will. If we can't restructure, he may be gone.

I admire your loyalty, but I am getting a different vibe, respectfully. I think the following players are possibly gone:

DWill: I think he will be a June 1 cut if nobody bites on a trade. Gettlemen said that players not earning their salaries should be nervous (not his words).

Gamble: I see no way he is not cut. I do not think Gettlemen will be interested in extending a 30-year old CB. He will look to the draft for a CB.

Captain Munnerlyn: Unless we franchise him, I doubt it. however, as a nickel, RR loves him and with good reason. We will make an offer, but a team with more cap room will take him from us.

Garry Williams. Not worth $1m +

Nakamura. Not worth nealy $2m.

Gross: Remember when Gettlemen said that he was not going to let loyalty disrupt his objectivity? Gross came to mind (after Hurney). Gross will have to rework his deal without a long extension or he will be shopped around. He could be cut. I am not sure he stays on his current deal.

Anderson could be dealt or cut if Beason's deal makes him impossible to trade or cut.

A lot of people get mad when you suggest trimming Gross and Beason from the roster--that is what Gettlemen meant when he talked about objectivity. Of course, he cannot fix every position, but did you notice the mention of "1 year contracts?" He knows there are going to be more openings than the draft can fill. Stay tuned, but Hurney's big contracts will be dissolved as fast as he can do it.

Both of them will be back next year.

Munnerlyn: Wouldn't mind if he's back...but again...not as a starter. We need that position upgraded. But he's a cheap ST/sitautional defensive player so I'm for it.

Williams: If he is back it means that Hurney screwed us with that contract too badly for Gettlemen to do anything with it. OR...it means Stewart is gone. As long as we clear one of them off the books then IDC but I'm going to be pissed if we have 70 mil in cap tied up years in multiple RBs. Just no reason that one guy can't carry the ball 25 times a game for the rest of his career. Ridiculous to pay two guys with big money to each carry the ball an average of 10x per game. Stupid.

    • After some of the calls last year probably won't see much of a drop off
    • https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/48344034/nfl-begin-hiring-replacement-officials-given-state-negotiations-nfl-referees-association   Honestly fug these refs and their union. Resisting changes that would actually incentivize good performance and not seniority based systems. What a bunch of donkeys. Hope the replacements straight up take their jobs and never give them back. Sick of watching refs script games with no repercussions.
    • Donovan seems like highest risk to me. Lloyd and May have already established relationships with all these kids. There’s probably guys hitting the portal that they recruited from HS. And then there’s the possibility of transferring their own guys from their current teams. They’ve also been recruiting the HS kids for like the next 5 years already. Look at the Iowa coach who hit the ground running by transferring all his guys from his D2 program. Or going across sports to Cignetti transferring all his JMU guys year one then building off that to a national title year 2. Donovan is starting from square one having been in the NBA so long and he’s already 60. So you’re potentially punting year 1 for a guy you are just hoping to be a 10 year hire while you figure out how to actually develop your next home grown 20yr guy. That’s 1/10th of the time you have him, more or less at best. The hope would be that he would find some high level assistants who have been working the college recruiting trails already, but then are you giving up his ideal staff just to get a foothold in recruiting and transfers. Think Belichick year one was bad? Imagine how much worse it would be without Steve Belichicks transfer portal pulls. Hoping Mays or Lloyd are all they’re cracked up to be.
