I started drinking heavily after i got out of the military for about 3 years i never hurt anyone but i noticed it started to effect my health. I haven't had a drink since oct of last year but still struggle every night. Anyone have any tips or methods to avoid cravings.

Without sounding too cliche, get your butt to a meeting.

You must find a healthy alternative activity to replace the drinking.

And go see your doctor, be straight with him/her. Your body's chemistry has been messed with and you may need to get it back in line medically.

You gotta find someone to talk to- friend, confidant, whomever. As long as you're still carrying around the garbage that got you drinking to begin with, you need a person to dump it on occasionally. And in case you hadn't heard- it's very cool to be sober these days.

Like a lot of things in life, drinking is a habit.

Habits can be good or bad, damaging or healthful, cheap or expensive..... you get the picture. There is a great new book about habits, "The Power of Habit" http://charlesduhigg.com/ that can help. I don't think it is as simple as replacing one habit for another, i.e. replace drinking with exercise or hot tea but everyone is different.

Meetings work also, I know from personal experience, but it has to work for you specifically.

Not drinking tonight but wish I was. Its tough for me just to get through the week without drinking knowing I will drink on the weekend. If you have made it since Oct. that is a major feat in my book.

I'm the exact same way man.

I might go a couple of weeks without drinking but that's because I'm just sitting around the house bored as hell with nothing to do.

Find something to do when your mind is wanting them libations... My alcohol consumption is increased during football season, then I cut way back just because I dont have the excuse until next season... I dont drink to have a good time, but why start a fire with sticks & flint when I got a lighter?

    • Maybe a bit of a homer take but I can't give us a grade lower than A.   Freeling was arguably the best LT prospect in the draft.  His athletic ability is off the chart and at 6'7" that can move.  It was a no brainer pick.   Hunter's key word is Violence. Putting him next to Brown should scare an offensive coordinator. These two give Scourton and Phillips plenty of chances to get one on one opportunities. Brazzell, another tall receiver with sprinter speed.  Our WR room is filled with tall talented WR.  Brazzell is going to give us a WR that can take to roof off the defense.  Basically Jimmy Horn with size. W. Lee III has a nickname of the Blanket. (heard this on the Beleav podcast with J. Stewart)  What a great name.  A great value in the 5th round. Hecht A strong, fast and extremely smart center. Many had him listed as the best center in the draft.  He's most likely a starter sooner than later. Wheatley A good safety in round 5.  Someone who could see playing time.   Kuwatch  I love this pick.  At minimum he will be a key piece on special teams and with some good coaching he'll see some packages where he'll play.  His down piece is he doesn't stay up in the running game.  Good coaching will fix this.  He reminds me a bit of A.J. Klein.   All these picks were great value.  I believe everyone of them were graded higher than the pick we took them.   Dan Morgan is IMO doing a great job turning this team into a good team with great depth.
    • Moton is a class act.
    • Sure, that is possible. That’s what, an extra 55 yards a game on average and 7 more TDs? What if he’s just 15th?  I imagine they would extend him in that situation due to the belief that he’ll keep trending up. maybe a 3 year contract to prove he can be top 10? Sounds like a Tepper plan.
