Beason a June 1st cut?

CRA

And we spent years waiting on the 2012 season for Davis...

Can Beason comeback? Sure. Hope he does. Question is, is it smart for Carolina to wait around for it when his job no longer exists?

We're losing players that could definitely go onto play a part in another team success without getting anything back

All that matters is Carolina getting better...

Can't do anything about the bind Hurney put us in....just have to do the best we can to get better.

I have a hunch he will be an impact player again, even at OLB. If we do cut him another team, prob a good one, will get a hell of a deal in my opinion.

Vilma going from the Jets to New Orleans is the worst case scenarion in Beason's case.

That is ay possibility.

I'm sure the Saints also thought the same when they signed Dan Morgan when we finally cut him loose.

If I'm not mistaken, didn't Jon say how much he disliked playing OLB when he went back there a few years back? That's hard to just ignore and think it would be no problem. Plus, the guy does have coverage problems as much of a beast he is. I feel like everyone is trying to ignore when he went back to the outside under Fox and played actually quite underwhelming.

Its easy to just say he can slide on over but this may be the casualty that could be hard to accept and happens midst all of this speculation if the numbers mentioned are in fact true.

From this article it seems Beason as a June cut would only save 1.6 million this year. While Anderson would save 2.3 million. Obviously the question is health, but if Beason is thought to be fully healed, then we might as well try him out at OLB . Anderson has been underperforming since his contract and a healthy Beason would be a upgrade.

Not saying it is wrong...but I don't get the math they use if it is a June 1 cut

The odds was against Davis

I woulda thought after Davis, that would make anybody be quiet when talking about comebacks. Guess not

Thing about Davis from my view is that whenever he was on the field(even during the short time he played last year) he was always playing at a high level but beason's play on the field has been declining for some time now most likely due to injuries and I question whether he will ever return back to his old form... Sucks too cuz he was my favorite player on the team in his prime(besides smitty) :/

I don't think he actually said he dislikes playing OLB, just that he prefers MLB. Splitting hairs, and most likely his actual feelings are more on the "dislikes OLB" side, though.

However, Beason is quite a good coverage LB, one of the best in the league in my opinion. He's very quick, changes speed very well, and has even covered WRs well in the past. Of course, his return to that ability depends on recovery from his injuries. But using the past as an indicator, coverage is not his weak spot. The only weakness I've seen was his tackling this year. Hopefully that was just a result of trying to be too cautious of his injury.

A healthy old version of Beason is...

He isn't better if not on the field. He isn't better at 80% than a 100% Anderson. Not with Luke calling the D IMO.

What???? James Anderson has been a JAG ever since he has been here except for the year when half the team was on injury reserve. Not a impact player at all, put Kuechly and Davis on the field with him and you couldn't even tell if Anderson actually played at all this year. At least a hurt Beason made SOME plays before he went to IR, it was just more bad ones than good ones but i definitely got a glimpse of what Beason used to bring to the table, it just his injuries held him back this year.

Amd not once has Beason said he has had a problem with moving to another position and Kuechly taking his responsibilities or role. He has actually been very encouraging and given him a lot of support so i dont know why people keep bringing up this notion about him being to stubborn to move. Beason has never been a selfish player or cancer. People need to quit making up stuff to support their arguments.
