Didn't we get new scouts when Rivera came in?

No...maybe some scouts out in the field have changed, but the director of college scouting has been the same since 2006 when Don Gregory replaced Tony Softli. http://sports.espn.g...tory?id=2504750

Softli was hired as VP of player personnel for the St. Louis Rams. The Rams fired him in 2010 after the team went 14-50 under his watch. http://content.usatoday.com/communities/thehuddle/post/2010/06/vp-of-player-personnel-tony-softli-wont-be-returning-with-rams/1#.USUPxaVQGTc

I would be fine with a WR at 14. A future LT if a worthy one is there as well. We should be able to get either the top WR or 2nd best WR in college football. That would be better than throwing darts at the middle rounds hoping someone falls to you.

If I was to make a case for WR, I would look at what Atlanta did. They have two heavy hitters with a pretty good TE to boot. The Seahawks game was the one I was interested in. That paired them wiith the Seattle'shot secondary. Atlanta won that battle.

It makes it very difficult for a secondary to cover two WRs that pretty much require double teams. Not to mention making the defense pay if they want to use some kind of spy or safety blitz. There isn't going to be a lot of help to the front seven without paying dearly. Also I think Cam is at the stage where he is going to take the next step in reading defenses. A deep threat that plays to his strengths will add alot of confidence at a time when his development needs it..

new scouting dept after the 2011 draft. i mean gregory is still head of the dept, but he got a new team for the 2012 draft. hard to argue there wasn't some improvement.

and now we have a real talent evaluator that is one of the best and most respected in the league coming from a program with a ton of success drafting WRs and who do it often and early.

there is very little reason to believe that gettleman won't make better choices with WRs, that he won't be more active than hurney was, and that we won't be addressing it with a significant FA acquisition or early draft pick. he won't settle for who we have in house, nor should he.

    • I know it was obvious and I know the ref is to blame! But KB is a bum and my original post was about the situation in its entirety. You are right, he did touch him and that's why I said lay down on him to make it obvious. But KB did everything half assed and that is why he had less than a five year career. But the way Cam supported that kid and the way he ended up acting in the end is a dark spot on the franchise. It just doesn't sit well with me and never will. He literally left here talking about ball placement from a league MVP.
    • The Lee Hunter interview with Sheena Quick almost murdered me. That man said he had a 5 years old and a 2 munt year old!! 😂 and all of a sudden I couldn’t breathe!!
    • DLine has to be 50-79 or 90-99. So it’s likely to stay 92 over 62 or 52. Scourton and Phillips can wear a poo ton of numbers as “linebackers”, but the war daddy’s are still pretty limited.
